EUPHORIC CLAN

in The Ink Well3 years ago

Ever heard of a person always smiling, no matter the situation they find themselves in. That was me, my entire clan actually. We were called the Euphoric Elves.

It didn't matter if we were going through a hard time, or facing illness, or going through heartbreak or whatever sad situation out there. No matter what, there was a smile on our face at all time. This made us unique from the rest of the elves.

Recently, something strange seemed to be happening to my clan, they were losing their smile. For some reasons most of them stopped smiling. To the other elves, this wasn't an issue. Like my best friend Ella, they believed it wasn't a big deal for one to be sad for a while.

~I'm telling you Ella, there's something huge in play here.

-Come off it Mikel, y'all have been smiling all your lives. Perhaps some of them are tired of smiling.

~There's no such thing as being tired of smiling. We believe that happiness heals all.

-Well, Maybe they have nothing to heal right now.

~You will never understand this things.

I couldn't blame Ella and the rest of the clan for misunderstanding what was going on. To them sadness has always been a part of their daily life. I needed to speak with a fellow clan member. I decided to go visit my aunt Kate, she would definitely know what is happening.

With a smile on my face, I walked into the very much familiar old cottage of aunt Kate. The attractive smell of her almonds never gets old.

"Greetings Aunt. How's your morning going. It's that bandu soup I perceive from the kitchen. Perfect timing for me I'd say."

"Didn't your parents teach you not to go sniffing when you visit your elder."

"Haha I know aunt just kidding. Actually, I had me a delicious breakfast at Ella's place."

"Mikel, you are still going around eating in people's house. Your mom won't be so happy about that."

"Aunt is everything okay? You are acting a bit strange."

"You should see it too son. The light of truth would show you that we have been too jovial all our lives. Its time we become a bit serious."

"Oh no they have gotten to you. Become serious by losing our happiness "

"My son, it is an illusion to think that happiness heals all."

"And where is this light of truth?"

"At the grand elf's tent. He welcomes all, you should go and see for yourself."

I couldn't believe that they got to aunt Kate. At least I got to learn about what was going on. I had to do something about this madness.

"Ella I'd need your help if this is going to work out."

"Do you have any plans. You are going against the grand elf here."

"I know that. I'm working on something."

"Not forgetting the fact that you might get into your head and show you the light."

"I know all that Ella. That's why I need your help."

The next day, Mikel headed over to the grand elf's tent, where he met several other elves trooping in to see the light for themselves. It happened that the light came from some sort of enchanted mirror.

"Ella, I'll need you to distract the grand elf somehow. I have to get a closer look at the light."

"You got it. Have this tiny shade lens, they might come in handy. Be careful."

Mikel gave her a hug and they departed, Ella walked into the tent with the rest of the elves while Mikel went towards the back.

"Hello there grand elf. Sorry to interrupt your speech, I've heard so much about this light of truth, I want to see it for myself." Ella said as loud as she could as she walked into the tent.

"Take a sit, it will get to your turn." The grand elf replied.

"Actually, I'm in a bit of a hurry. Can we cut the speech and get to part where I look into the lights."

With every word, Ella walked closer to the where the grand elf stood. Meanwhile, Mikel was attempting to sneak in through the back. As Ella walked forward, The Grand elf gave her a closer look.

"You don't look like a euphoric elf. Why are you really here."

"I don't see why the Euphorics should be the only ones looking into the lights."

The grand elf suspected that something wasn't right. He quickly looked back at the mini alter. His eyes met Mikel walking towards the light.

-Who are you! Guards Seize that man.

Sadly, Ella's distraction wasn't long enough. The guards tied Mikel up and the grand elf walked towards him.

  • Now here is an elf who needs the light.

He shoved the mirror to Mikel's face forcing him to look into the light.

"Now I understand." Mikel muffled.

"Let him go. I think he has seen the light."

Immediately the guards let go off him, Mikel brought out the lens from his eyes, clenched his hands and smashed the mirror.

-No!! Do you know what you have done." The grand elf screamed.

~I brought back happiness to my clan, that's what I did.
