Hello @isbackayo, thank you for your clarification. Kindly provide a copy of your original draft (pre-editing) for us to review.

If I were to consider the best gift I have received over time, I would pick the one given to me by my crazy ex-girlfriend. It was a package of everything I told her I loved at that time. It was perfectly curated and even included chewing gum. Over the years, my love for thing has gone through revolution, I no longer chew gum like when I could afford it for the health of my teeth and other things has also been stripped off me.
In the last two years, I have been gifted by various individuals one which I now considered to be the best gift yet. Before going for my NYSC program, something I considered a habit was to visit my business friend. We have known each other from primary school and he was few of my friends who still reside in the state. Since I fancy being a business man and I was involved in a start up idea for a clothing line, I often find myself taking lessons from him. He seems to be the best as he faces the daily hustle and bustle of the day. One thing else I noticed about him was his interest in books. One of my visiting days, he took me to the book store across the street where his family conducted business and bought a book for me. psychology of money by Morgan Housel.
That was the first time someone would buy me a book since I took interest in them.
During my youth service program, I attended a family church that took so high the matter of love both in spirit and in practise. We do have a special Sunday in which members are encouraged to exchange gifts, love letters, words of encouragement and all. It was on such a Sunday when I was still relatively new in church that I got a wrapped gift from a sister. When I felt it, it was a book, my heart melted instantly. Before I left church that day, I thanked the sister twice, I was happy. When I got home, I unwrapped and it was; make today count by john. C Maxwell.
Towards the end of same youth program, I was a little disturb by the big question what next. I find solace in a brother in church. A fellow corp member as at that time, who always make sure to check on me and give advice, also track my progress. I find it so dearing. A visited him on this particular day and while we were chatting, he picked up a book, which he said he just bought but hasn’t read it yet. The 15 invaluable law of growth by john c Maxwell. He gave the book out to me. I had to munch on the book for days straight up. I needed the lessons as at that time and it was a great read for me.
This particular book made me appreciate the author and if I ever become a self development writer, I would imitate his style to mastery, but since I might be pseudo a bit, I favour Jordan Peterson. Somehow the book ended up in the hands of my first friend.
After I left town and came back visiting, I stayed over at a brother from church. This particular friend didn’t just bear the tag as used by the religion community but he showed it. After staying for a night and I needed to travel back, I asked for a book to take along. Emotional intelligence. It is beautiful book colour blue. It sits in my book folder as I don’t have a shelf yet. I haven’t read it, as it is more of a memorable thing to remember the brother by as the days pass on.
On December 31, a lady dear to my heart who has also taught me a lot about friendship, commitment, forgiveness, and leadership decided to buy my church devotional for me. It was her way of sowing seeds as she wanted me to become closer to the Lord. During the cross-over vigil, I got it. Mountain Top Life by Dr. D.K Olukoya. It is a very fine devotional to track your relationship with God.
Books are endless gift. That I know. Personally, I love to be around them. I am often filled with joy, a level of power in church when I clean and arrange lots of them on the library shelf. It is eternal. It encapsulate memories. Like the one given to me on Love Sunday which was written on the front page, a small sketch of a love image and the day ‘Love Sunday’ when I opened it. 50 years from now, it will still be worthy or even more worth than this day. But alas, I gave it out to a colleague who held unto it till this day. It is like giving away a piece of love, a torrent of memory, a package of intentionality, a gift eternal.
