The first response that comes to mind is, Wow. Very nice denouement. You build toward the conclusion, and yet it packs a wallop. Great hook. Wonderful use of the prompt. Your story flows as though it has come from the pen of a natural story teller. Very nicely done.
There were a few minor errors (mostly typos), which careful proofreading would take care of.
