Thank you for submitting your piece to The Ink Well. Your writing has nice potential. I would have liked to have seen some dialogue between the characters. It is almost entirely narrated, and as a result, the reader remains on the fringe of the story. The MC may be unnerved by the sinister old man, but there is no real conflict to be resolved, and then when the MC turns for home, the old man chases him down and turns into some sort of bat or vampire(?) and flies away. It feels like the start of a horror story, but incomplete on it's own... and so I am left wanting more.
Again, welcome!
