Hi @m-kay. Welcome to Hive and to The Ink Well. We have a lot of important information to share with you as you get started here.
First, please be sure to read our community rules, which are posted at the top of The Ink Well home page. You will see that we do not accept stories that contain graphic violence or brutality. There is also an important reminder about this directly below the rules in the prompt post:
Reminders: Be sure to also read our community rules. As always, please avoid violent, gory, bloody, brutal, sexist or racist themes and language, NSFW (not safe for work) stories like erotica, stories with a political or religious agenda, and stories featuring abuse of any kind. (We have a complete article about The Ink Well stance on violence and brutality for more information.)
Here are some additional important notes:
We accept two kinds of short stories in The Ink Well: fictional stories and creative nonfiction stories.
- You can find some great articles on fiction story writing in our catalog of fiction writing tips.
- You can find information about what we are looking for in creative nonfiction stories in this post.
Additionally, we ask that everyone who posts in our community to engage in the community by reading and commenting on the work of other community members (at least two for each story published) — and it looks like you are already doing so. Thank you.
And finally, we advocate for quality writing in The Ink Well. We recommend the article, Help for the Grammatically Challenged, which provides important tips on how to use Google Docs to draft your stories. It will point out errors that need to be fixed, and you can fix them by clicking on them.
Again, welcome.
Thanks so much
