RE: Why Me? | A tale of transgender

in The Ink Well11 months ago (edited)

hi @moaz-sabir

Your story is tender and layered. Life is so incredibly cruel that a mother can find herself forced to surrender her child to a stranger because societal norms govern the way in which her husband behaves, and control what he finds normal and acceptable. As a result, Moaz grows up in the company of transgender men, finding acceptance at home in his new family despite encountering rejection in the world. He later discovers the truth of his identity but is coached by those around him to understand how to live in the world. Thank you for bringing such a sensitive story to The Ink Well. It is not clear exactly how the parents knew he was transgender at birth, although we assume that there was a discrepancy between his chromosomal gender and his physical appearance. One thing I might add is that it can get a little confusing to follow when you use so many names and aliases. I am assuming that the aliases are opposite gender names to show that the individuals are transgender but it would make your story a lot easier to follow if, after sharing their aliases once, you stuck with just one name to improve the flow and keep it more readable.

Please note that your image sourcing URL does not take me to the image concerned but attempts to download the image instead. The correct URL to use is this one here:

Please could you amend your image sourcing and insert this URL instead.

Thank you, The Ink Well team.

I use aliaces because In our society people called transgender with such names. People called them with girls names like pinky bijli Raju and so many others. Ok I m inserting this URL in my post.

I understand and thought as much. The point was simply a suggestion to stick with one version of each of their names after introducing their dual names. This would improve readability for your readers. Anything that makes a story harder to follow is a potential blocker to your story being read to the end, and this story deserves to be read.

Thank you. Inshallah I will come back soon with my next story..
