A/N: Why do I feel unsatisfied with the ending
This is a great observation. The ending is unsatisfying because it is not a resolution. Readers love happy endings, but that can't always be. More than that they want a conclusion.
He just hoped the talk would go well.
This is open ended, literally. We, the readers earned the right to know how the talk went because we stayed with you throughout the story.
It's a good story (Although, the word barren is frowned upon in some circles. A woman may not be able to have children but can still be full of life and vigor, can still give rise to ideas and be inspired. Barren doesn't capture that vitality) You have described several conflicts. The characters are interesting.
