Hi @owen222. We have some important information and some tips for you. The important thing is that we will not curate your story until you provide source information for your images. Even if you generate them using AI tools, you must provide that source information in your post.
Here are the tips:
- We expect everyone who publishes in The Ink Well to engage in the community by reading and commenting on at least two stories from other authors for each story posted in our community.
- We have some great articles in our catalog of storytelling tips that you might find useful. One is about how to write dialogue. You've written yours a bit like a stage play. There's nothing really wrong with that. But a short story is typically different. We use dialog tags, like this: "Good morning, ma," Hassan said.
- Another useful article you will find in our collection of storytelling tips is about author intrusion. In a short story, the characters, scenes, dialogue and narrative should tell the story. If there are phrases such as "What makes you special?", and it is not something that the character within the story is thinking or saying in dialogue, then it is the voice of the author. And the author does not belong in the story.
- Additionally, we ask writers not to use short stories as a platform for life lessons or guidance. A short story is just a story. Not a lesson. Nor an opportunity for the author to share their knowledge. And summarizing a story with a moral or lesson is just another form of author intrusion. You'll find this guidance and many other useful tips in our treasure trove of tips and guidance, as well as information on improving the quality and grammar of your stories.
We are not recommending that you fully rewrite this story. These are tips for the future. But adding the image source information is required, and engaging with at least two stories is highly advised. Not doing so affects our curation level.
I've added the image reference and also commented on others' posts.
Thank you, @owen222.
