The Misplaced Tongue

The introduction of intoxicating elements to soothe the misery of many a weary and depressed minds has become sport and fashionable for a people dying slowly, but smiling widely and wildly.
This I knew even as I dived consciously into the ocean of free-to-fall destruction of the mind through the indulging and satisfaction of the vanity of the flesh. I had indulged my friends in an intoxication journey, swirling in the waters of alcohol as a bird would slide its wings to the graces of a gentle breeze while flying high; just as I was getting high.

Pleading Guilty

A month later he was at it again. The light was green and then yellow. This time he was on his way to work on a rainy afternoon. The vehicle coming from the other side was going through the intersection at the same time. Because of the rain she couldn't stop and she collided righted into his new car.
They exchanged insurance papers, but that was it. He liked her British accent and wanted to talk to her again, but that never happened. What happened was structural damage to his new car. His insurance paid for it, but his rates went up. He could also never get the car fixed the way he wanted to. It lost its resale value and he saw the true severity of going through yellow lights.

A Flesh and Bone Robot

The Professor went to look for some candles, at that moment, the electrical storm took more force, the lightning fell repeatedly on the castle, they fell with such force, that they knocked down a part of the ceiling of the laboratory, leaving everything illuminated, the man took refuge behind a shelf, from there he felt how that place was illuminated completely, one lightning after another, they fell on the robot, as if they wanted to attack it.

Betrayal On The Siren's Song

image.png

The salty sea air filled my lungs as I stood aboard the magnificent ship, the Siren's Song. Its tall masts towered above me, and the sound of creaking ropes and lapping waves created a symphony of adventure. I was a young sailor, eager to travel over unknown waters and seek out lost treasure. Little did I know that this journey would be filled with not only dangerous escapades but also a web of whispers and secrets, woven through the ship's scuttlebutt.

Even In The Storm

"Are you going in the rain?" He asked, obviously concerned.
"I have no choice, it's getting late."
Without waiting for his response, I dashed out the door into the rain, closing my eyes as lightning flashed. The Headlight of an oncoming motorcycle served as my guiding light for the first few steps I took. I had not gone too far when a figure appeared beside me with an umbrella. I looked up to find attractive grey eyes peering at me.

I KNEW I WAS GUILTY

I immediately came back to my senses and knew the consequences of what had just happened. I was very frightened as I knew that day I will also be wearing a tribal mark by the time my mum gets back from the party. I pondered on what to do after I managed to wash the remaining plates and an idea struck in my tiny head. I looked at the plates and saw that it was divided into two not into pieces so I carefully placed the two pieces beside each other while I set them into the basin where we keep plates after washing. I planned that I would feign ignorance if my mum finds out it was broken. I immediately went inside and pretended to sleep.

Storm and its aftermath

image.png

Source

It took us two hours from La Silla to get to Humboldt. We had to face one last steep climb full of mud. If we took one step, we could go back three and even fall funnily. The key was to step forcefully and try to choose the driest path.
At that point, it had stopped raining, but the effects of the storm were evident. My recruits slipped many times because they didn't have strength in their legs. In addition, their appearance was far from that of homeless people covered in mud and branches. They were hungry for not having lunch, but they were determined to reach the top.
