Serene fluffy clouds rolled over mountains. The day turned to night, and in the sky, the twinkle of stars followed the procession of slowly spinning galaxies.
A shimmering fog slowly descended from the ceiling to the floor like a waterfall of thick incense; its tendrils reaching her nostrils and eliciting the scent of sandalwood.
Collene began to feel light headed.
The room seemed to expand and contract as if the walls were breathing.
Here it comes, Collene thought, recognizing the initial effects of the fog. Soon the visions would overwhelm her mind. What would they be this time?

t was blood!
He immediately froze for awhile, and when she went back to her eating, he immediately bolted his way back to the dining area.
He sat down in haste, and to distract himself at that moment, he stirred his food.
'What was that? Was that Maria?', he pondered fearfully. 'So the rumors are true...'
'No, it can't be,' he argued in his mind.

The photograph, a quest to capture a fleeting moment in time, was a perfect metaphor for what his own life would be like if he didn't change. He had been thinking about this project for months. A project he wanted to put his whole heart into. He saw himself as an artist trapped in a world that only valued him for his spreadsheets and projections.
But that morning, something changed in Javier. He looked at the photograph of the building, an image of what could be, a vision of a future from which he wanted to escape to pursue his artistic dreams.

And I stopped feeling overwhelmed that they were in the house. I got used to them. Olga spoiled me with her food. We talked a lot, and she told me about my father, a rebellious and willful child who did not allow himself to be dominated by his father and for that reason decided to move away from the family.

In the evening, after dinner, we sat on the chairs in the corridor, watching the sunset behind the mountains.

The Unexpected Encounter

"It is," Harold agreed. "But do you want to know the real tragedy? It's not just the love I lost, but all the fears I let control my life afterward. I never took risks, never allowed myself to be vulnerable again. I lived a safe, comfortable life, but not a fulfilling one."
Sarah sat in silence, absorbing Harold's words. She thought about her own life, her routines, her reluctance to step out of her comfort zone.
"Why are you telling me this?" she finally asked.

Closing Chapters

Day after day, month after month. I closed different chapters of different books. The more I found reading interesting, the more I read, and the more I closed more chapters.

But that day as I helped pack up those worn-out books from the dusty shelves of the bookstore. The smell of old books sniffing through my nose. It dawned on me that I was not just closing chapters of books but chapters of memories too. I was closing memories of my childhood days that I spent sometimes curled up in the small store, reading and helping my uncle attend to his customers. And also I was closing memories of days I argued about books and who was our favourite with my uncle.
