Ghosts and Fried Potatoes

You didn't see her until a week later. That evening, you were sitting on the short grass in the field where all the boys played ball. There was nobody in the field. Your headphones was blasting ‘The Night We Met by Lord Huron’. Your eyes were closed and you were so into the song, you didn't realize somebody was crouched in front of you. The headphones were removed from your ears and your eyes snapped open. There she was, her smile, her lightness, her being.

"Temperance," said Lohan. "The fusion of polarized opposites."
She felt as if she was floating in the waves.
An electric buzz sizzled through her like a bolt. She felt a strange unity not only with the waves but the entire 3D simulation.
"Clear communication is only possible between equals," Lohan said.

Which Path To Take

It wasn't like I didn't enjoy the presence of my Mum and Dad >or find happiness in that loud, coarse laughter from my mum whenever we cooked together in the kitchen. Or the excitement in my kid brother's eyes whenever I helped him with a school project.
I enjoyed it all and wouldn't trade their happiness for anything else, but while I found joy in them being happy, I knew within me that I was killing my happiness by not following that path I craved.

On the eve of Mimi’s birthday, Lilly would not stop crying. Mina and Javier thought it had something to do with her teething. Her pacifier did nothing to soothe her. They managed to console her through the night and made it to the hospital first thing in the morning.
When Mimi came home from school that afternoon. The house was unusually quiet. Mimi’s heart skipped. Her birthdays were never quiet ones. Her parents would often put up balloons and music, and a big cake would be sitting pretty on the dining table.

“No, no, no. I've got it under control, that's the last time I do that, now is it true.” Roy looked down at his skeletal, almost translucent hands.
“Roy, Roy, Roy... You know you've got a serious problem and it will finish you,” Pinky heaved a sigh as long as the room itself. “Don't lie to me, Roy, you know it's only impossible to get out of the pot of your doom.”
“Pink...y! Help me, my friend!” At that instant the tears came uncontrollably, rushing through every space of the yellowish epidermis.

Friendship and loyalty: A path

"Someone liked our song." She announced after a few seconds of silence, probably to get us tensed up.
"Our song? How do you mean?" Lilian asked her.
"I played our song at a barbing saloon where I went to see a friend, some guy said he liked it and asked me to do the song at his concert." Alison told the tale and the room went dead.
