A Stitch In Time...

I quickly went into the kitchen to take a big bowl which I would use to get the vegetables outside. We didn't have much left as our neighbors do constantly come around to pluck them for their own use. I opened the door to the backyard where we had our small farm and the sight before me made my eyes widen in shock.

Haa! I screamed like I was stung by an insect. There before me, I saw someone had already been to the farm to pluck the vegetables. The little ones remaining will not be enough to cook for even one person.

Dreaming with open eyes

If there were two things characteristic of La Morocha, it was that she liked to clean and do her work with loud music (she especially listened to vallenatos) and in her moments of rest, she would go to the porch of the house and smoke a cigarette with the smoke inside, as if it were an old chimney. It was during these moments of leisure that I would approach her and talk to her:

Death Of Art

"And let my name die out of the art world?" David asked.
"Your name wouldn't die. You know that even then it's when it becomes more alive." Jason replied.
"Alive. When collectors and businesses resell my pieces at exorbitant prices, when my art becomes so alive that the common people can't afford to enjoy it."
"Yes, when your art gets sought after, when your art becomes as priceless as its station demands, that's when your art is alive, that's when your legacy lives."

Angels could be strangers

Someone comes from behind, rests his palm upon my shoulders "We're in Nigeria. Don't overthink it." He whispers softly into my ears. I Turn around, as I try to get a full glimpse of who it is before realising it's the security guard. He prolly noticed how fed up I was upon entering the bank.

I walk up to the cashier to ask if I can withdraw the last five thousand Naira left in my account— I know the least I can withdraw over the counter is fifty thousand naira but well, there's no harm in trying ones luck.

Lost in my world

I didn't know what to do. I ran after him, but he warned me not to get close. It was the worst experience I had ever had in a lifetime. In the heat of the moment, I deleted the songs on my phone, as well as the movies too.
But what I didn't realize was that I had totally erased my phone's memory until it was late.I made a mental note never to daydream again, and even if I did, I would never be caught daydreaming again.

Stealing Her Day

By now I was already lost in a distant gaze, with a wistful smile and softened eyes. Lost in a daydream that wasn’t mine but one I wished could be. You wouldn't blame me, it was the effect of the way Mama Chinedu told of her special day. I was so lost in my Dreamland that I didn't notice that Mama Chinedu was done spreading her clothes on the line.

I was brought back to reality with a tap from Mama Chinedu.

Long wait

image.png

Leonardo.ai

The afternoon falls, and we continue to wait for our turn. Each step brings us closer to our destination. I no longer know how long I have been standing in this long wait. I have lost the meaning of my life. Some faint and collapse on the ground. Their bodies dissolve, eroded by the climatic conditions of the planet. We carefully pass over them, leaving a prayer for their souls and their failed attempts to reach their goals. The few of us who remain, like zombies, wander, wordless, in the silence of the night. Step by step in this eternal torture. The days go by, but I can still see that little fire in the eyes of the younger ones, who have not lost their hope of reaching the establishment’s entrance.
