Two heads are better than one

Martha wrote a note and gave it to the peon. He took it to the staff room and told the teachers that there was a meeting with the principal. The teachers had dreaded this moment. Was Martha going to shut down the school? They knew that she lacked the funds to improve the school. As it is, she was using her own money to pay all the salaries and provide food for the children. She also got some money from well-wishers but this year, it seemed more difficult to get the funds. It was a sink-or-swim situation.

Resetting the soul

"You can tell you are going through a strong depression",_ they all observed.
"I am not going to take you to any psychologist because you are not crazy," was my father's silly answer.
So I had to channel my pain on my own. The only way I had to ease my grief was by listening to music and sleeping. I spent the whole day sleeping and even if I was invited to go out, I preferred to stay at home, locked in my room, alone.
This state of mind had repercussions on my student performance and I failed every subject in every term.

I don't want to be a soldier

"Don't be so hard on her, Cris. She loves you and I offered to do it."
"Of course she loves me!, like my other hundred brothers that she sent to war against the winged ones and... they died."
"They were soldiers like you!". Aphis antennae were now moving very fast, a sign that she was angry.
"I don't want to be a soldier!"

Matters of the Heart

After almost an hour, the human fell asleep and Heart came back to an angry Brain.
"What was that?!" Brain started immediately Heart returned.
"What was what?" Heart replied, skipping cheerfully.
"How dare you seize control from me like that?"
"I had to." Heart replied laughing. "You were replying so monotonously I could feel myself dry up."
"I was replying safely. Keeping us safe from any more pain."
"Does our human feel like someone that's in pain?" Heart asked happily.

Sink if you want, but don't forget to swim afterwards

Alan was trembling and began to take deep breaths. He was really afraid, he had always been afraid. Suddenly, he smiled at the reminiscence of his father's serious words as he gave him the go-ahead: «Son, it's okay, now you're going to face real challenges, either sink or swim». He put his feet together, gathered momentum, and jumped in, imitating Smith. He slowly sensed his encounter with the water. He splashed the lieutenant's shiny boots and sank to the bottom.
The lifeguards, attentive, watched as the aspiring cadet Fear struggled to rise to the surface. Incipient bubbles gradually supplanted the ripples generated in the water.

The Awakening of the Hybrids

“You know why I’m here, don’t you?”
“No, but I was expecting you. I’ve seen the news... What’s your name?”
“Hagios.”
“You look human...”

“I know. Nearly all beings outside this planet resemble humans to some degree, especially those with descendants here.”
“How does this happen, Hagios? How can I be a hybrid? Am I... your daughter, by any chance?”
