Motherhood, the journey
Soti wondered why Linda called her in the middle of a crisis with her children. She knew Linda's husband just travelled out of town and even if he's home, for the past 8 years that they've lived in the neighborhood, she has never heard Linda and the husband in a quarrel or fight before. Soti wanted to be troubled but felt it's just one of those frustrating moments in motherhood.
"Hello", Soti called again.
A Brief Interlude
When she proceeded to text him, she wondered how she was going to start the conversation. She wondered how she was going to introduce herself to him. So, she just decided to go with a simple, “Hi, good evening.” And that was the beginning of what she would term the brief Interlude.
That first day of texting was full of hesitation and pauses. It was that day she would find out she was texting with the famous Zach. The Zach whom Vicky had always talked about. The Zach who had helped them pass the media flow chart assignment. She was excited to get to know him.

The helicopter began to make a loud noise and rose. “Gently, gently, don't overdo it with the lever,” Rudolf advised his friend.
Mark moved the helicopter roughly, but with Rudolf's help, he controlled it. Sweat beaded on Mark's forehead. After a while, they reached the indicated spot. The flames were infernal, and Rudolf pulled the ropes so trapped firefighters could climb up.
Love lost to time
You sure you can afford my order?" I teased with a sneer, hiding my true excitement and the butterflies that ravaged my stomach.
"Anything for you, Ella, anything," Tunde replied, and I could sense so much truth and honesty in his words. As much as I wanted to rush him with a hug, I restrained myself, reminding myself I was the lady and should keep my emotions in check.
"Alright then, I'll think about it and get back to you," I replied and turned to leave immediately.
Trad the path of musical notes
The music helped me to bear that anguish. With my hands I followed the rhythm and with my voice I intoned the notes of the Ave Maria. It was a breath of life, as my mother had told me. At first, I did it quietly, but the other people asked me to let them listen, and they had learned it the hard way. The Ave Maria had become the hymn of a choir of the damned. And the musical notes vibrated and flew through the prison bars and went through every corner of that place towards freedom.
Don't rule them off
Can we make a bet? Bring two of your most brilliant pupils and let them compete with these two, I said very confidently.
Well, that's your business; you are the one that will be disgraced, Aunty better chip in from her end.
I didn't answer them again; I turned to go back to my class only to see Ayodele at the door looking at me with a sorry eye; I walked up to him, took him and Celina to my seat, and asked them to sit. I told them to not allow whatever those aunties say about them to get to them.
False idols
Then came the workshop. The woman arrived late and the entire class was devoted to talking about her perfect marriage and her award-winning husband, who was also a famous writer. During refreshment breaks, the workshop participants commented on how outraged they were that they had paid so many dollars just to hear “about that writer's perfect marriage”. And although I agreed with most of them, I tried to look at the positive side of it:
"Let's believe she's teaching us how to maintain a marriage and not die trying",_ I commented amusingly.
