What the wind brought
Again the knocking, insistent.
"Open up, Pedro, and we'll see who's in such a hurry"
An icy wind blew Peter and Magdalena back. There was no one there, only the dark night. But something happened inside the house.
"Close the door, Pedro! we're going to freeze. I felt something come in, it brushed my leg". Magdalena was afraid.
First greenery
A shower of arrows covered the night sky and fell rapidly towards the enemies. Some Neomicantes fell before the ravine that descended from the sky. The Urus soldiers clashed with the enemies, making the swords and axes dance a deadly dance.
The Neomicantes, with their claws, were clawing their way through the Urus soldiers, who, despite their courage, were outnumbered. “My lord, Rajnor. We are losing men fast.” Beads of sweat ran down the soldier's forehead.
Alphabet Soup
"I know it was an accident, but why did it have to happen? It's just so wrong!"
Remembering her promise, she picked up the bowl and quickly finished the still warm and delicious soup, then rested her head on the table. She looked at the now complete words from the new angle, and noticed that some of them looked like they had doors hidden in their curves.
"I wish I was small enough to go through," she thought.
Early Surprise
Tonye took out the camera. her fingers carresed against the cool, smooth exterior. She looked into the camera case to find any other accessories for the camera, only to find a note from Aunt Nene. It read:
"The world is always changing, dear. Don’t let the present disappear before you take a shot while embracing the chaos that comes with it.”
Tonye was dumbfounded. It was exactly the kind of advice she needed to hear. Things had been feeling stagnant recently and she has been clueless on how to pull out of that funk. But now, with this camera in her hands, something in her clicked.
One to remember
"I promised you that I'd come back alive, didn't I?" A response from Stanley that didn't sit well with Sonia. She wanted to know what had actually happened. She had so many questions, but words failed her. To quench her curiosity, Stanley reached out for her hand with his good arm, pulled her closer, and responded, "I am here today because of our daughter and you. I was shot, and while I was recovering, my wound got infected. I didn't want to worry you, plus I was sure I could come home as informed. Unfortunately, my health deteriorated, and what felt like sleep was me being pronounced clinically dead.
Dawned on Me
“It's fine". She replied, sniffing a little. "You look so much like her. Hardworking, independent, always rushing to work. She never allowed me to take care of her. To her, she was supposed to be the one taking care of me as I was getting old, she would say.” Now, her smile was from the heart.
I smiled at her as I listened.
"What happened?" I asked.
"It was a work trip." She paused. Her eyes were welling up with tears. "She promised to call. But the call never came. She never arrived at her destination." Mama Chinedu exhaled.
