The Best Present I Ever Got
Own photo
My daughter was born on my birthday! She waited 15 days to be born so that we could share the day, year after year. And we do. Year after year one or the other of us travels so that we can be together. It's lovely!
My first born was the best birthday present I ever got.
She was also the last birthday present I got for a very long time. Her birthday always eclipsed mine.- @owasco
Noah's Musical Ambition
His playing was flawless.
The room fell silent. They could all hear the sweet sounds of the violin filling up the space around them. Noah kept going, playing the entire piece without a mistake.
When he finished, everyone applauded enthusiastically. For a moment, Noah forgot himself and looked around. They were all staring at him.
Someone whistled softly. Another clapped his hands. A girl jumped up and down, clapping her hands. - @loveah
On the Emotional Tension of Gift Giving
Source
Gift giving became a terrible chore. What if I handed over the recipient an equally hurtful gift, and they pretended to like it? What if I spent money on something that would be wasted in a closet for years until we had all forgotton about it, and it ended up landfill? I thought of the cellulite cream my sister had bought my mother, and the pink care bear vase I had been given by a friend, both gifts that suggested they hadn't thought enough. What if I didn't think enough? The whole charade seemed forced.- @riverflows
One year
Own photo
I walked forward intrigued as to how my mother and two sisters would see me. I stood in front of the wooden door and prepared to knock, but I didn't. I stood there for five minutes inhaling the smell of the varnish. The house was freshly painted, it was nearing the end of the year. However, for me, it was the beginning of a new life.
"A year ago I left," I mused and knocked..- @ricardo993
The spirit of giving
Source
I realized how difficult it was for my father to sponsor my education and I know that there are hundreds if not thousands of children in worse situations today. We are making it an annual programme so that we can keep giving back to the society yearly. On December 31st, the first edition of such intervention will be carried out. We are at the stage of getting in contact with deserving beneficiaries. I'll share the journey with you, my amiable hive family soon after 31st. - @lightpen
SLIDE RULAH!! The greatest gift ever
Family file photo
Anyway, I hear my father climb up the stairs, open the skylight with a loud roar and upstairs, in the attic, take down the plastic tree with a lot of grumbling and mumbling. Then he proceeds like a fool to set up the thing and finally to strangle, pardon me, wrap the fairy lights around its plastic neck. "Damn tree! By thunder, once again!", you could hear him shouting every year. - @erh.germany
