I USED TO LOVE IT (A POEM)

It was once a resplendent world;
A place that angels visited
Where darkness couldn’t comprehend light
It was a little heaven

It had all we postulated
Peace and love was promised to us
It rained peacefully on it
And the sky was very visible

It all changed when greed set in
And hatred became our mantra
This was the worst that happened
None could tell what went wrong

We used to love it-
Especially when we read about it;
Of course from the Holy Book
A place we can never repair?

What have we done to the world?
We promised not to go to wars-
Alas, action speaks louder than words
Once a beauty, now in ruins

I still dream of a better world
Altho, I don’t know where we are
I hope to see the new-old world
Where we will never grow old
I used to love it
