When faith works

in The Ink Well13 days ago

If your faith is as small as a mustard seed it will work for you "So they say" got home that day and was asking myself about my faith level "I don't know if mine is even up to a mustard seed" just saying but then that level of faith has worked for me numerous times.

Faith simply works for those who believe because I don't think what you don't believe is gonna work for you; I believe in faith, and I believe in the miraculous things faith does.

Fast forward to two years back when I had just graduated from the higher institution and was awaiting my posting letter so I could serve my nation. I did the necessary registration process, and after some weeks, my posting letter came, and guess what? I was posted to the northern part of my nation.

"Mummy, I've printed out my posting letter," with excitement filling my face.

"Which state were you posted to?" My mum asked with all curiosity.

"I was posted to kebbi state," I said, trying to throw my face to the other side to hide my facial expression.

"You were posted to the north" my big sister screamed out from the kitchen.

"Nope, you are not going to the north, are you even listening to the news? Are you hearing the series of killings happening there?" Mum said in a very low tone.

"You are not going to the north," Mum continued in anger as she headed to her room.

"Mummy, I will go, and besides, I will be staying in camp for just three weeks, and after that, I will be back," I replied, following my mother into the room.

"Ooh, okay, how will you relocate yourself back to the southern region? Those things cost a lot of money, and I don't have that spare money to spend on your relocation," Mum replied as she tried to lie down on the bed.

"Mummy, don't worry, I believe everything will work out well for me; even if I don't pay for it, I believe I'd still relocate," I said, trying to convince her to let me travel to the north.

After a lot of back and forth with my mother that day, she finally agreed to let me travel to the northern part of my nation for my national youth service (it's a service that is made mandatory by the Nigerian government).

I arrived in the north for the three weeks of camping exercises; everything went smoothly in camp, I got to make new friends and learn new things about the northerners. When the three weeks were to elapse, they started filling out forms for those who wanted to relocate back to their desired states; I went to the official stand and filled out the form, believing that it would be approved even without spending a dime for it.

I got back to my hostel and was filled with the hope that my relocation request would be approved. Where I was praying in my heart, my friend and her other friend came and were discussing their relocation, how they'd already settled someone from the headquarters office with a huge amount of money to approve their relocation.

At that moment, I looked at myself and was like, "Me, I have no funds to settle anyone, I don't have any connection or anyone that would help me in approving my relocation, all I have is my faith."

At some point, I felt discouraged because it seemed like everyone in camp had someone that is working out their relocation, and I was the only one who was left out of the league, I started developing some level of doubt about my relocation.

Finally, the long-awaited day came; my friends and I went to the postal office, where they pasted the names of those whose relocation was approved. We got there and my friends started checking for their names when one saw mine and shouted.

"Tari, your name is here" with excitement.

"It's a lie," I replied, trying to wake up from my slumber.

"Wait! Let me check, I have the brightest eyes," Precious said, trying to check the list again for confirmation.

After checking my name several times, I realized it wasn't a dream; it was the reality I was being faced with. Immediately, I called my mum and big sister to share the good news, and they were all surprised that such things still work in my nation.

"It works to those who believe".

That was how I was relocated back to the southern part of my nation after the three-week camping exercise was over without spending any money for it.
