I am amazed at what I find along the curb and set aside at the local apartment complex.
Today was 12 bottles of coke. Should I call them vintage? They are from 1995, unopened.
These aren't just any old Coca Cola bottles! Time to Refuel is at the top and that's because the bottles and the carton are honoring Nascar Legend Jeff Gordon. That's number 24 for the win!
There's slight damage to one carton, but I think this will not impede a successful online sale. Time will tell. I am trying two approaches to the online auction. First I listed the carton with all 6 bottles. My only worry is that shipping might be too expensive. So, as an alternative, I listed the bottles individually as well. There were some bottles without cartons, so I can test both ways to auction.
The bottles are branded one side as Coca Cola and are 8 ounce glass bottles. The company makes many special bottles each year and there are people who collect them.
This bottle honors race car legend Jeff Gordon. He won many races in 1994 and 1995 as shown on the carton. He finished the season in 1995 as the Nascar Champion.
Of course, I have a back up plan that if these don't sell, I will be sipping down some vintage coke. It gets better with time, like wine? All photos and content are FredGSanford's.
That's pretty crazy that they were just left there. I would definitely try one. lol
Fun story, not all people like Jeff Gordon. I was in a Pilot truck stop in Ohio in probably 1999 and they had a stack of Jeff Gordon energy drinks in the middle of the floor $12 for a 12 pack. This was when Monster Energy was pretty new and they were about $3 each. I was long haul trucking and drank a lot of that poison at the time so I bought a case and asked the guy what was wrong with them to be so cheap. Three people said that it was because they were Jeff Gordon's so nobody would buy them.
I went out to my truck and tried one and they were the exact same as Monster, so I went back in and bought 9 more cases. I just about gave myself a heart attack every day for a couple of months because they were cheaper than water. They also used to market those energy drinks as natural health products.
I never really understood why he was so disliked. I think it was that he won against the established lineage of racing. I drank one of the cokes. It was flat and really sweet. So far, none have sold, so the cokes might be like the Monster drinks. Maybe no one is collecting them! We scrapped a projection TV the other day. That was fun. There's a huge mirror in them and we want to use the lens for some science projects.
I love those fresnel lenses. It's amazing how much heat they can produce.
