Hello. My first time posting.
A close-up of a double pink Marguerite Daisy.
Yes, we enjoy the beauty of flowers but they are themselves worlds within the world.
In this case I just happened to come across a crab spider making a meal of a fly.
While the crab spider seems obvious against the pink, the fly would not have seen it as insect eyes see differently. Hidden in the flowers pigmentation are patterns visible in the UV spectrum which we don't see. These help insects like bees navigate to the pollen and nectar within. The spider uses similar UV patterns to hide itself in plain sight. Flowers are not merely beautiful, but are essential to the ecology. Perhaps their beauty is meant to draw us towards the knowledge of that fact.
