As it is now, we have to prove we are not criminals to do just about anything! To have a dog, buy a car or house, get medical care, open a bank account, even to walk down certain streets. It's absurd, but I hear many say "It's just the way it is" while they wait for approval to do for something or other. Even worse, my tax dollars increase to pay for the administration of these pedantic and capricious laws and regulations.
For instance, my very small town has decided to regulate exterior murals, which have posed absolutely no problems whatsoever in this town. The local board has to feel like they are doing something to earn their tax payer funded keeps, so they make crap up just to look useful. Now one has to go through a fairly rigorous approval process just to decorate an outside wall of their own building.
I propose our legislators be required to eliminate two laws for every new one they enact. Or better yet, chuck out all laws, eliminate the politician predator class, and let us protect ourselves. Clearly, the now vast ruling class is not doing a good job of protecting us, and are largely busy simply protecting their place in the ruling predator class.
