Unboxing my $300 Skateshop Order

in SkateHive6 days ago (edited)

One of the best feelings for a skateboarder is ordering fresh skate-related stuff! Whether it’s boards, accessories, clothes, or shoes, if it’s from a skateshop, it’s guaranteed to feel good!

That being said, I went on a skateshop shopping frenzy last week, and my order is finally here! This might just be my most expensive skateshop haul yet! I spent nearly $300!

P.S. By the way, yesterday (Feb 15) was Global Skateshop Day! Always support your local skateshop, if you’re lucky enough to have one in your city.

What did I get? Let’s check it out!

I ordered four boards, two sets of bearings, two sets of bushings, one pair of shoes, wax, and Shoe Goo! Most of these items are for me, except for one board and one pack of bearings.

With that being said, let's take a closer look at each of these items!

4x Trap Skateboards Decks

I’ve been skating Trap boards for years now! They’re cheap, durable, and have great pop. I also really like their concave! I’m not the biggest fan of their designs, but who cares about that stuff? Well… a lot of skaters do, but I don’t, haha!

I grabbed these four decks for just $120, and all of them are mine except for the blue/white one on the right. If things go well, I shouldn’t have to worry about new boards for at least two months

2x Bones Reds Bearings

I only skate Bones Reds bearings, and that’s it! They’re simply the best. I’ve tried plenty of other brands before, but nothing matches the durability and speed that Bones Reds give you! They’re top-notch!

I spent $25 per pack, and they’re worth every goddamn penny. Skater rated, baby!

2x Indy Bushings

My trucks are still in decent shape, so instead of buying a new pair, I decided to just swap out the bushings! I got a medium set for myself and a hard set for my homie @dskiadaresis.

To be honest, Indy bushings kinda suck! They tear apart quickly. But that’s okay! I’ve gotten used to them, and I don’t feel like experimenting with other brands. Plus, at just $10 per set, they’re super cheap to replace!

Last Resort AB VM004 - Milic Suede Green Tint

I’ve been skating a pair of Last Resort ABs (VM003) for almost a month now, and I absolutely love them! Since my current pair is almost destroyed, I was searching for my next one, and lucky me, the skateshop I was ordering from had a pair on sale and those were the VM004 Green Tint Milic edition.

Not my favorite shoe design-wise (I kinda hate the green part), but I know I can skate well in these babies. Plus, they come with extra gray laces to replace the ugly green ones! Fair deal for just $50, I guess!

Shoe Goo & Skate Wax

For those who don’t know, Shoe Goo is like magic glue for your skate shoes. When a hole starts forming, you slap some on, let it dry, and BOOM, your shoes last way longer! It helps extend their life while saving you a ton of money.

This tube should last me a solid two years and will definitely give me at least two extra weeks of skating per pair of shoes for just $20! Pay less, skate more!

Oh, and I grabbed some skate wax too! One more in the bag never hurts (got four, now five haha)!

My New Setup

Unboxing new gear is always exciting, but the best part? Putting it all together! Took me a solid hour to swap out my board, bushings, and bearings, but it was totally worth it! Way too satisfying haha!

Check out the state of my old setup!

And here’s how my fresh looks now!

I also had a new pair of pivot cups sitting around for months, so I swapped those in too. Getting the old ones out was a freaking nightmare! They were basically glued in after months of skating, lol!

And just like that, my new set up is ready!

Unfortunately, I won’t be skating today, so no gear testing yet. But tomorrow is the day, and I’ll make sure to update you all on Skatehive.app Feed about it! I bet skating with all this fresh gear (shoes, bearings, bushings, board) at once will be a challenge, but it’s gonna be fun for sure!
