GODS UNCHAINED - Death Zombie deck

DEATH ZOMBIE DECK.jpg

Hello dear friends of GODS UNCHAINED, how are you? I hope so.

I've been a little absent the last few days, having kept myself very busy due to work issues, and my son is about to be born so things have been a little busy around here, so I haven't had much time to play GODS UNCHAINED or to dedicate myself to writing posts.

But last weekend I managed to dedicate myself and fulfill my Weekend Challenge.

So with today's post I want to talk about the deck used, what is its formation, how were the battles and the results obtained.

Here we go.

As I had already mentioned in some previous posts I was dedicating myself to build a death deck that would be minimally competitive.

So, after several games, notes and analysis of other decks I built an adapted "Zombie Death", even because it doesn't have all the creatures of a classic and complete Zombie Death, but it has brought me good results and a good victory percentage.

The deck consists of the following cards:

image.png

These are the 4 cards (five actually, since I have Rampart twice in my deck), that I always look for at least one in the initial card draw. Each one of them has different characteristics that will directly influence the game.

Cardshark, although it has only 1 life point and 1 attack point, summons a "bodyguard" with 1/1 and frontline, so there is a great probability of ending the first turn with a numerical advantage of creatures on the board, and in the next turn my opponent will attack the Bodyguard, making room for me to summon a more powerful creature with 2 or 3 mana cost points.

Felid Protector has a common status for creatures of 1 point mana cost (2/2) and the frontline ability, which will protect my God from the very beginning of the game.

Rampart, on the other hand, I consider to be a very good creature, because although it is not able to attack, its 6 life points will make it very likely that the opponent will dispense 3 attacks to defeat it.

Finally we have the Wild Hog, the only one of the creatures without a frontline ability, but it has 3 life points, and the vast majority of creatures with a mana cost have 2 attack points, so it is very likely that I can defeat the opponent's creature and still remain in battle with the Wild Hog.

image.png

This spell, which costs 1 mana point, can be used at various times during the game, and is useful both at the beginning, to defeat creatures with an average of up to 3 mana points, which usually have 3 life points, such as Battle Aurochs, or even an Ogre Archer with a cost of 5 mana points, as well as at other times during the battle to complement the damage done to a powerful creature, defeating it without having to lose a creature to put an end to its 3 life points.

image.png

The last of my creatures with a cost of 1 mana point, Writhing Spirit has an excellent status for such a cost, being 3 attack points and 3 life points besides the ability Burn +1 causing damage every round the creatures it attacks.

On the other hand, it must be used wisely and at the right time, because its Roar ability causes me to have to choose a friendly creature to be removed from the game, i.e., it will not even go to void, causing me to have 29 cards in my deck.

image.png

My creatures cost 2 mana points and are used for attack and defense, nothing very special with them, but they are good and useful for the beginning of the battle, especially the Skeleton Heavy, which I have 2 in my deck, which, with its 4 mana points, will resist on average 2 adversary attacks, allowing a certain advantage with this.

image.png

This is a very interesting creature and extremely useful if used at the right time. It has an amazing afterlife ability to summon a Netherspawn 6/6 if it is defeated and your God has 15 or less health points.

So, in a moment of eventual disadvantage, in which your God has such life points, you will summon 2 creatures, one being a 2/2 and the other a 6/6 with only 2 mana points of cost, which is an excellent cost benefit and can mean a survival, or even a turn, in the battle.

image.png

My last card with a 2 mana point cost, this is a "saving spell" by which you will deal 1 point of damage to one of your creatures, but recover your God's life by 7 points in a simple and straightforward manner. Very useful.

image.png

Creatures of 3 mana points for attack and defense, I have 2 Dune Cavalry in my deck and I like this creature for having good status (3/4) and not being confused, being able to set the attack strategy of the round without surprises. Battle Auroch, on the other hand, has the Frontline ability, which can be very useful in certain moments of the battle, especially to defend myself, strengthen my creatures and go for later attacks.

image.png

This weapon is one of the key cards in this Zombie deck, it has only 1 point of resistance, no attack point, but its ability is what makes the difference.

Necroscepter will summon, at the end of each turn, a zombie with leech ability and status of 1 attack point 1 life point, and if you are frenzied, this zombie will gain +1 point in each status, becoming a 2/2 creature, which already makes it very reasonable, that will be summoned for free each round.

It may happen that you won't be able to attack the opposing God in a certain turn, so you won't be "frenzied" and consequently your Zombie won't receive the bonus stats, but the inability to attack the opposing God can be made up for by Malissus' "Soul Burn" ability which will cause 1 point of damage to the opposing God.

It turns out that many of the players do not have specific creatures or abilities to reduce the resistance of weapons, thus making Necroscepter almost active throughout the battle, which will give you a big advantage.

Remember to always keep an eye on the shrine, because there is usually a card available there that causes damage to the opponent's weapon, so you have to always keep an eye out and try to get that card first.

image.png

It is a creature without the ability to attack and with backline status, which brings you protection against most opposing creatures when friendly creatures exist on the battlefield.

Its ability is to summon a 1/1 Zombie at the end of each turn, but if you are frenzied, which can be activated with "Soul Burn" from Malissus as mentioned above, 2 zombies will be summoned instead of just one. Thus, with Cursed Obelisks you get to spam a number of zombies each round, which will certainly drive your opponent crazy to try at all costs to clear the battlefield to be able to defeat or destroy him via magic.

Cursed Obelisks can even be used in conjunction with Necroscepter, but in this case you will be left with many zombies on the battlefield, which can be useful in a way for you to accumulate several cards in your hand and summon only the most powerful ones.

But be careful, because these creatures do not have the frontline ability, allowing you to have many zombies on the battlefield and your opponent attacking your God with a powerful creature.

image.png

In addition to the two cards above we also have Fickle Cambion with a cost of 3 mana points, 3 attack points, and 3 life points. Until then it is a normal creature, but with its ability it is amazing, since when your God gains one health point it will receive one health point, and when your God loses one health point it will gain one attack point.

Together with the other cards of the deck it forms a great combo that can mean victory in battle. With the various Zombies summoned by the above cards, you will have a source of life for your God due to their leech ability, so the Fickle Cambion will receive one life point for each attack.

But the Zombie leech will prove useless if your God is at full life, and this is where Malissus' "Soul Burn" ability comes in, whereby both Gods will suffer one point of damage, causing Fickle to receive one point of attack, opening the way for healing through the Zombies.

image.png

Two transformation spells, with similar effects, but to be used in very different ways.

The first (Netherwarp) can transform any creature into a Netherbeast 3/3, so you can use it on your opponent's creatures, turning an extremely strong creature, 10/12 for example, into an average one with 3/3 status. You can also use it on a friendly creature, but in this case it wouldn't be as advantageous.

The Old Ritual, on the other hand, can only be used on friendly creatures and proves to be very advantageous to apply, for example, on Zombies summoned by the Cursed Obelisk or the Necroscepter. This way you will transform a 1/1 creature into a 6/6 creature for only 4 mana points of cost.

image.png

Another magic with a cost of 4 mana points Void Flash is simple and objective, you choose a friendly creature (any one) and an enemy creature and destroy them, obviously very useful for use on a Zombie and a powerful opponent creature.

image.png

Every deck needs powerful creatures that make an impact right when they enter the battlefield, and for this we have Feral Shapeshifter and Ogre Archer to fulfill this role.

I really like these kinds of cards, especially the Ogre Archer for having a higher damage, since it will do damage, without taking damage, to some opposing creature right on the initial turn.

This ability is much better than the blitz ability, because with the blitz ability you can attack the opposing card on the summon turn, which will damage your creature, which is not the case with the two creatures above.

Both cards cost 5 mana points and have 3 attack points, with Shapeshifter having one more life point (4 total) than Ogre Archer.

image.png

This magic doesn't need much explanation, as it speaks for itself, you can summon a creature from any of the voids. Useful for using a powerful opponent creature or to get a second chance with Cursed Obelisks for example.

image.png

A powerful creature, it has good status, but with high mana cost. Your ability is of great value, because for each enemy creature defeated you will draw a card.

Your opponent will not be able to stand by and watch you draw new cards with each creature he defeats, so he will try to focus on Corpse Swallower, so the ideal is that you always have a frontline creature in conjunction with him on the battlefield.

With the various zombies summoned each turn you can focus on defeating the opposing creatures and thereby accumulating cards in your hand.

image.png

One of my favorite creatures in the entire deck, having 2 copies of it, its mana cost, although high, proves to be very cost effective with the Roar ability that Vampiric Skull has.

Its ability grants you the ability to summon a creature with 3 or less mana cost, that has already been defeated on the battlefield, in conjunction with the summoning of Vampiric Skull.

It can be very useful for reviving Cursed Obeliskus, Fickle Cambion, Dune Cavalry, or some other creature depending on the moment of battle.

This way you will have 2 creatures for the cost of 6 mana points, one powerful (6/6) and the other that best helps you at the moment.

image.png

The only legendary card in the entire deck!

Cerberus is an amazing creature and has an even more amazing ability, with it you destroy 3 creatures with 3 or less mana cost every turn, that is, not only on your turn, but also on your opponent's turn.

As soon as Cerberus is summoned it will clear 3 creatures from the battlefield, if they have 3 life points or less, and so on until your defeat, and the newly added opponent cards will also be destroyed at the end of your opponent's turn, before your turn even begins.

But there is one major problem, and that is the fact that Cerberus cannot be used at the same time as Cursed Obelisks or Necroscepter since it will destroy the summoned zombies or even Obelisks itself if it has already been attacked.

Of great value in complicated moments of battle, this is a great creature, living up to its legendary status.

image.png

A very powerful spell in which you destroy the target enemy creature and, at the same time, randomly summon a creature from any of the voids.

It proves interesting especially for the first part of its ability, in this case destroying the target creature, because the creature to be summoned will often be a zombie since your void will be full of them.

image.png

The only card in the deck with 8 mana cost, this is an extremely powerful spell that will cause a break in the course of battle causing almost a "new beginning", maybe that's where its name "End times" comes from.

There are not many words to describe the power of this spell, because when it is placed on the battlefield, all friendly and opposing creatures will simply be destroyed and it will summon a Demonic Skull with 9 attack points and 9 life points, which will lose 1/1 status for each opposing creature destroyed with End Times and will gain 1/1 status for each friendly creature destroyed with End Times.

In other words, you will completely eliminate the opposing cards regardless of their status and power and still have a powerful card alone on the board.

image.png

I have been using this deck for some time now, and with it I managed to reach Etheral Diamond in the ranking, but from this level on, the battles have become increasingly difficult, and some incredible opponent creatures have appeared.

From Solar Gold on it has been difficult to maintain a winning average above 50% with this deck, so it proves to be very powerful for the lower levels, so much that I didn't have much difficulty reaching this level.

For the more advanced levels, changes need to be made, and some cards need to be added, I already have in mind a new card for the deck:

image.png

This amazing card can make my deck extremely powerful with its ability to grant 1 life point and 1 attack point to Nether friends, in which all summoned Zombies are included.

This weekend I have already completed my weekend challenge, but I started it in the Solar Gold level and during the event I was oscillating in such, not reducing but not increasing my level in the ranking.

I performed this deck in the 25 battles of the weekend event to bring you a practical example in this post, however, as I narrated above, the Etheral Diamond level has proven to be very difficult, so I did not get a good result, and in lower levels of ranking I managed to achieve 19 wins in 25 battles, but this weekend I achieved only 10 wins out of 25, which is certainly a horrible result.

The result of the battles was as follows:

GodVictoriesDefeatsTotal Battles
Nature5611
Light101
War134
Mage033
Death112
Deception224

Well, as you can see it was not a good result, but what draws attention is the amount of battles against nature that I faced in the Solar Gold ranking, almost half of the battles were against such.

And I finished the challenge at the beginning of the solar gold ranking:

image.png

There is a great difficulty of this deck to face the mage deck since the spells can be used directly against the Cursed Obelisks, which causes a certain difficulty in the evolution of the match, so it is not easy to face this type of team, so I lost all 3 battles I faced against this team.

What I need to do now, as narrated above, is to strengthen this deck to have a very powerful death deck, since this ranking, solar gold, at least for me is much more difficult.

Well friends, I hope you enjoyed this post in which I shared my deck.

Thanks for reading.

Also try to add the Ray of disintegration and the Decaying Rhino whenever possible they can help you a lot with this deck. Since you will always be frenzied you won't have to worry about the rhino losing HP. Glad to see you re enjoying and trying it though I never played it before because I lack a lot of cards.

I have already had the opportunity to play against Decaying Rhino in a few matches, and it is indeed an excellent creature that I will also add to my Deck in the future.
About Ray of Disintegration I had never seen, it is really strong to be used against powerful creatures for 5 mana points.
Thank you very much for the commentary and the tips.

Yes exactly the Ray can help you get of strong annoying creatures easily to keep dominating more and more with your zombies! Glad to see you're liking the zombie style I might also try it soon!
