I was planning to make this follow-up post to my crafting guide a few days ago. But as the in-game crafting got postponed I saw no reason to rush it. That means you will at least have until the next patch to mull things over. As there seem to be some things to ponder regarding the new cards.
What cards to get?
I will be focusing on the Legendary cards here, as the epic ones are looking like they will be super expensive and hard to get. And in all honestly they do not really look super crucial to begin with. Maybe the magic and death cards would fit well into their respective decks. But the others I see more as "good if you got them, don't matter if you don't" cards. Let us move on to the Legendary cards.
Of the six legendary cards to me, it looks like there is one of them that stands out as "better" than the rest. That is Salvator, Ceaseless Impact, the 6 mana 6/7 War legendary. The reason for it is fairly straightforward, I would argue that it would fit in more or less any war deck. The mana cost is fairly low so it would fit even in most aggro decks. It has leech which is always nice to see. And its manasurge is both low at 6 mana, and a universally good ability in that your opponent has to discard two random spells. This ability alone is something that can throw a spanner in the wheels of most decks. And because of these things, I would argue it stands in a tire of its own compared to the other cards.
![The cards...](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://cdn.publish0x.com/prod/fs/cachedimages/3605445896-f186bb0a725f7a3d1d372c19ed2652c367205fc0cd92c55fbaaf52636eb4b5ff.webp)
In the tear below I have two cards, magics Arrandion, Ancient Leykeeper and deaths Lokhart, Dreadsiren. Both of these have the ability to work as a finisher. The magic is more direct than the death one, but only because it requires other cards to "set it up" or trigger it. While the magic one requires you to have damage spells on hand. I would argue it is less of a setup than the death one. But if you enjoy magic decks or is looking forward to a new death drake deck. You cant go wrong with picking up either of these two cards.
Now for tire three, here I have put natures Shredder, The Hunter and lights Wakian, Boundless Kings. I do not see either of these cards as a direct finisher. But both of them are definitely big threats the opponent needs to deal with. I would argue they do lack that something the cards above have. As neither of them are cards you would play in the majority of decks, and neither of them is part of a direct finisher. That said they are still solid cards and will most likely be a big part of one or another deck.
This leaves but one card, deceptions Digby, The Emerald Peril. It is a 6 mana 3/2 that when played summons Captain Thibbs, if you do not already control Captain Thibbs. is a 4 mana 6/4 with blitz. If she attacks and survives she pulls the weakest creature to your hand. This will often mean you will get Digby back. But potentially you could get an enemy creature in your hand. The card says nothing about "your" creature. And it fits with the new mechanism of returning cards for deception. But I don't see this card as essential for a deck like that, or a card that is an essential part of a deck. Like nature and lights cards have the potential of being. But it might just be me missing something obvious.
Craft or buy the cards?
Now that you know which cards you are looking to get, it is time to decide if you want to craft them or just buy them. Let us try and figure out what the price of the legendary cards will be after they are available to be crafted. The current price for the cards you need in order to craft the legendaries is between $1.9 and $3.27. The price has come down after the pump yesterday when people were expecting to be able to craft. But moving on. Let us use this min and max as a way to project an expected price. We do this simply by adding the number of cards needed, in all these cases that is 10. This puts us at a total cost of $19 and $32.7 just to get the cards needed to be able to craft the legendary. On top of that, I would respect a slight increase in price as the person selling would most likely want to earn a little something as well, plus there is the cost of crafting thaw we currently do not know how high it will be. Let us say the price is bumped by ~25% at least during the initial hype. This leaves us at $23.75 for the low end and $48.875 for the high end. Thus I would expect the legendaries to be priced in that range, and skewed in favor of the high-end.
Personally, I think that prices will come down after a few days, just as they have done with the initial legendaries. Meaning if you are planning to buy the card, I would wait a few days. Or even better, I would track the price of the card needed and see if simply buying 10 of those and simply crafting the card yourself. If you plan to do this take into account that the price of these cards will most likely pump the day or days leading up to the crafting patch, just as they did these past days.
If you wonder about the epic cards, then, in general, the two diamond cards will set you back ~$35 for the Mortal Judgment one and ~$130, or even more in some cases, for the card from Devine Order. But you at least now get 20 meteor versions and one diamond of the epic you're crafting. But presumably, you want to keep at least the diamond and one meteor version, or maybe craft a shadow. That means you will have 10 or 15 cards to sell to recoup the money spent. Presumably landing the 10-15 cards at roughly $15-20 a pop. At least that's what I would expect.
I would love to hear what your plans are for these cards, are you waiting it out to see what the meta will put at the top? or are you either going to craft or just buy them? Please let me know if the comment section below.

Thanks for the great overview. I think I will most likely buy the cards that I want, but will wait a few days for cheaper prices. So far I have just been buying different ones to see what might be useful in War deck.
War is definitely looking like the clear winner so far. But there will be some balances made. At least I assume so. Too many cards for all of them to be "perfect". But I would not expect to major changes to any of the set cards. But I think Scales, the card you generate that delves dragons, will be a likely candidate for a nerf. If this a higher cost in mana, or a change of the text on the card I do not know.
And thank you for picking my post, I really appreciate it. !LUV !dhedge
Thanks for the info. I grab my War cards Asap! Keep up the great work.
This writeup was comprehensive and definitely helped me get all the convuluted information this crafting iteration had. Cheers mate, hope you are doing well. Nice to see you writing. And I most certainly want ceaseless impact aswell lol.
!LUV I am glad you found it useful. This whole expansion has been all over the place with everything. And it takes a lot of effort to just make heads and tails of the basic stuff that should be easy to get, like card packs. But no, now there are three different types, and legendary cards will drop in chance over time as well, just to add an extra wrinkle to it. So glad to be able to put out something people find useful. =)
I have been struggling a bit with new decks in the game as of late tho. Cant make any deck "work", especially if I look at the new cards. But hopefully, things will shake out now that all the cards are here.
I agree. I think two discarded spell is huge (which can interrupt the gameplay of the opponent), particularly with Magic decks. Imagine if the spells discarded are Unbound Flames it will significantly derail the gameplan of the opponent.
Yes, definitely. But if you're playing vs green and their removal or heal were taken away that would be huge as well. Or death, they have several key spells in different decks. So many opportunities to mess with the opponent's decks.
Are you looking to get any of them yourself?
Yes, I am saving to get one of them.
Yay! 🤗
