Introduction - Gods Unchained (EMD012/emdomingo) & Some Play2Earn Thoughts

in Gods On Chain3 years ago

Hello there! I'm EMD012 but I play as emdomingo in Gods Unchained.

I've been posting for a while in Hive already because of Splinterlands but I haven't really made a formal introduction post yet, so I guess this could count as that.

I’m a Civil Engineer from the Philippines, currently working on an Airport Terminal project. Life is mostly on hold because of the ongoing pandemic. The plan was to migrate to Australia last year but the lockdowns and travel restrictions threw a wrench on that. So for the meantime, I'm studying programming to see if I can transition into a career in tech.

Gaming

I’ve been playing video games for as long as I can remember. My childhood was all about Red Alert 2 and Runescape. In High School, it was Warcraft III and its custom maps, most especially DOTA. In college, it was Civilization V and Ingress (an AR game from the developers of Pokemon Go).

Growing up, the only TCG that me and my friends played was Yu-Gi-Oh!. Decks were mostly bootleg though. As a kid from the Philippines, buying TCG boosters wasn't really an accessible hobby.

Gods Unchained and Play2Earn

As I’ve said before, I'm from the Philippines, and Axie Infinity had a boom in here a few months ago. Because of that, I started researching other Play-to-Earn games and I discovered Gods Unchained. I got hooked immediately, and bought a few Nature cards. The first card I bought was a Managarmr. The next day, I quickly listed it because I realized that this Core Legendary was mostly expensive because the Forge was disabled.

That was early July. A week and a half later, the first $IMX snapshot was announced. So I would say, I had a pretty solid and lucky entry to the game. For that, I am really thankful. Speaking of $IMX, let me share this very painful photo from the $IMX ICO:

</3. I think of this from time-to-time. That would have been 5000 $IMX. Ugh.

Anyways, the following decks are the ones I enjoy playing the most now. A Hidden Rush Deception deck and a Zoo-ish Magic deck. I could probably optimize them more. Let me know if you have suggestions please!

My best pull from a pack is this Diamond Deathwatch Elder. I haven't actually used it yet because Death is the only God who I don't regularly play. I do plan to make a deck soon.

I consider Gods Unchained as my main game right now, but I play other P2E games including:

Axie Infinity

I have the standard Bird-Beast-Plant team. So cute!

Splinterlands

Life Sneak, my favorite line-up. Bye Kron!

I regularly post here on Hive for Splinterland's Weekly Battle Challenge. Something similar would be great for the GU community here. A weekly feature of a Welcome Card would be my suggestion.

Rising Star

For Rising Star, you start a mission and wait for the countdown. I do this at work. 😆

Skyweaver

I'm only really able to play Skyweaver like every other week but I do want to try Conquest sometime.

Closing Thoughts

Blockchain Gaming and Play2Earn has really been a blessing to a lot of people, including me. But beyond the potential earnings, what I really appreciate from these games is the fact that the assets are player-owned.

A few weeks ago, I started playing MTG: Arena while procrastinating for Weekend Rank. And while I do enjoy that game, I feel reluctant to spend money on it knowing that it will all be sunk cost. This is why I hope that Gods Unchained becomes mainstream so that this system of player-ownership would be adopted by more games.

Play2Earn is also a means to introduce new people to Crypto. I'm also an example of that. I knew of Crypto long before but I have never actually did any steps to invest in it. Because of Gods Unchained and Axie, I finally did the first steps. And now, I'm researching and diving into the various tech in Crypto such as DeFi. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this experience.

Thank you for reading my post. See you in future matches!
