FakeMews Back to Back Top 10 Aggro Magic Pilots Guide

FakeMews attempts to explain how to pilot a deck he got top ten with in back to back weeks. One might think he is an expert on this deck however the truth may surprise you! A deck so good even a caveman could win with it!

Why are you creating a new YouTube channel?

This question has been asked a lot. The University of Alabama email migrated to Microsoft Outlook while previously being with gmail. My original YouTube account was linked to this email after Alabama migrated to Outlook I no longer was allowed to log in to YouTube as apparently it requires a google account and my Alabama account was no longer a google account. I did not understand the technical details behind this until it was too late my assumption was my YouTube just needed an email to be spammed at and that is a fine email to send spam to. I have been working on attempting to recover my account (you may have noticed no new content from me in a month) Part of this was my vacation another part of it revolves around the logistics of this. Over the weekend I gave up on recovering my original YouTube channel and decided I had to start from scratch again. The content on my old channel should still be viewable to all however no new content will be posted to that channel. If you would like to see content from me in the future please subscribe to my new YouTube channel (link posted above).

Lets actually talk about the deck now

Deck Storyline

While FakeMews loves to talk about his versatility in his Gods Unchained game touting a pair of "Flux Wheel Challenge" top tens. Despite the talk there was always one domain that was FakeMews Achilles heel in terms of his piloting ability: Magic. The deck above is the first magic deck to make top ten for FakeMews which now gives FakeMews at least one top ten performance with each domain. However this was not enough to make a statement coming back from vacation which was extended with a covid diagnosis (FakeMews never had symptoms but still was stranded in Vancouver unable to fly home). A top ten two weeks ago with 22 wins (finished 4th) was followed by a top ten performance this week with 21 wins (6th place) with 48 games played and a 89.6% win rate this is suddenly one of FakeMews top win rate decks of all time (with a reasonable sample size). This is actually the first time FakeMews has ever gone back to back with top ten finishes.

Deck Description

This version of magic is the aggro version. What you want to accomplish early in the game is to seize control of the board and hopefully achieve some "chip damage" this version runs Aethersnap which in situations can snowball and take over games. Your primary win condition is going to be face damage Academy Apprentice + spells gets you there at a higher frequency than you would think. Also this deck takes advantage of Unannounced arrival being a little bit broken combine this with Academy Apprentice and it can act as a board clear of your opponents side and summon a Highborn Knight... For 4 mana.... Another key idea of the deck is card draw leads to more consistency so you are more likely to draw key cards. Pallas Wand early if not answered almost always wins. I've seen some other people play my list and my biggest pet peeve is playing "value" cards without securing value. Ex: Playing Voritmer with no spells played or playing Aethersnap without playing at least one spell (ideally more). You run out of steam if you dont capitalize on your value plays.

Mulligans

I will not do a tier system for this list because quite frankly almost every card is "just depends". The best card to have in your mulligan is Pallas Wand you always keep that and the only other auto-keep for me is Pyramid Warden which is a pure early game play. Shadow Scryer is top tier in every matchup except most nature lists (the early game Marsh Walkers/Wars Wakes/Beetles faeflames make Shadow Scryer a liability). Trying to mulligan into synergies is nice. If you think you can get away with it keeping academy apprentice with announced arrival is a line in certain matchups similar idea with keeping tracking bolt in that situation. Trying to set up Arcane Transcendent + Unboud Flames is an idea as well.

Key Synergies

Instead of a card by card analysis this section is going to cover the key synergies with a deck that has a lot of them.

Pyramid Warden/Choralis Rune Moth- Trying to get multiple cards out of Rune Moth can be difficult however an early game PW can set up Rune Moth. Typically, if you get 2+ spells off of Rune Moth it's going to snowball in a way that's favorable for you. Keep in mind in the mulligan phase Rune Moth is almost always a keep if you are holding a PW as you have a decent chance to set this up.

Aethersnap synergies- This is a key card that can snowball. Playing Rune Moth (regardless of board state) Guarantees you at least 1 0 cost spell with Aethersnap which increases the value of your initial turn. Dimension Door is another card that snowballs well with Aethersnap though there is RNG ex: dimension door into Form of Power gets you two spells for one mana. Dont forget that Arcane Transcendent can reduce the costs of Aethersnap allowing your snowball turn to have more mana.

Academy Apprentice- This is a synergy with basically any card that deals spell damage. Form of Power is the sneaky one (most others are obvious). If you play both apprentices Form of Power deals 4 to a minion and 3 face so you effectively double the spell boost. The other key cards are Tracking Bolt and Unannounced Arrival both of these can be turned into board wipes with the spellboost. Also your win condition is face damage which Academy Apprentice can also accelerate.

Arcane Transcendent- Key cards you want to stat reduce are :Unbound Flames (can empower board-wipe for 5 mana after cost reduction). Unannounced Arrival (can couple it with Academy Apprentice easier). Aethersnap (or any spell that you plan to play on the Aethersnap turn).

Top 4 run (2 weeks ago)

Below is the YT video for the complete run of the 4th place finish two weeks ago. Keep in mind the first two games (both losses) were with control nature before I switched to the aggro magic version featured in this pilots guide.

Dear @fakemews, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency,

Hive.blog / https://wallet.hive.blog/proposals
or using HiveSigner.

Your support would be really helpful and you could make a difference.
Thank you!

Excellent video! As you are no doubt aware, both Unbound Flames and the Apprentice took (needed/expected) nerfs in the last patch. What, if anything, would you change about the deck? Also, I subscribed!

I think the apprentice is still playable in its current form (though it is weaker than before). I'm considering Arcane Burst as a replacement for unbound flames. This can be a top tier finisher and keeps the mindset that you are a face deck. Is 7 mana too much? Should we run 1 or 2 copies? I havent figured out the answer to those questions yet. I plan to test off stream some ideas this week prior to weekend ranked. As of right now I dont know what I am playing next week. Light might be a thing and if you have a good zoo light build with lots of ward this deck might struggle. I will leave the apprentices in for now and see if I need to remove them later.

Also shadow Guild Enforcer has been sent. The wheel of prizes was quite kind to you.

Woo! Thank you!
