You've probably heard of the Gods Unchained (GU) rank system, but do you know what it is? How are ranks determined? And what the benefits are of reaching a high rank?
In this post, I'll explain everything you need to know about the GU rank system. We'll cover the basics such as what ranks are and how they're determined, as well as more detailed information, like the benefits of reaching an advanced rank and how to progress through the ranks.
What Is the Rank System?
The rank system is a way of measuring how good a player is in GU. They range from Rusted Bronze to Mythic and the higher your rank, the greater rewards you'll receive from 'Weekend Ranked Events' and 'Daily Play and Earn' (more below). Don't worry, even if you don't win, you'll still earn experience points simply by playing and earn packs as you level up.
You can see your current rank and progress by opening the main 'Arena' tab in the launcher, and selecting the panel titled 'Ranked'.
What Are the Ranks?
The ranks are essentially the different levels of performance that a GU player can achieve. There are 12 ranks in total, and each rank represents a different level of knowledge and expertise:
- Rusted Bronze
- Purified Bronze
- Rusted Iron
- Purified Iron
- Impact Meteorite
- Astral Meteorite
- Twilight Shadow
- Midnight Shadow
- Auric Gold
- Solar Gold
- Ethereal Diamond
- Mythic
Beginners typically range from rank 1 - 5, Intermediate players can range from rank 6 - 9 and Advanced players range from rank 10 - 12.
How to advance through the ranks?
In order to move up, you need to build a deck and face-off against other players in Ranked mode to fill up your win-meter by winning matches. When that win meter reaches 100%, you’ll move on to the next rank. The more matches you win, the faster you rank up. But be careful! When you lose matches it can cause damage to your shield - if your shield receives too much damage, you’ll either be docked from your win-meter or move down a rank. Note that if the bar is filled beyond the white line, you’ll still lose a chunk of progress when your shield shatters, but you won’t drop a rank.
It's not just about winning though — you also need to play by the rules. That means no exploitative or unsportsmanlike behaviour such as bots or multiple accounts during ranked weekend. If you break these rules, your account will be blocked and/or lead to an account suspension.

Weekend Ranked
You can also play and earn with weekend ranked; a weekly event that runs every Friday 5am PDT/4am PST to Monday 5am PDT/4am PST. Simply play ranked games to enter and get at least one win to be an eligible participant. Note that prizes will be packs and they differ depending on your starting rank. Also, not all ranks offer prizes for just one win so check out your respective rank rewards in the tables listed here. Within the same link you'll find more information regarding weekend ranked, such as 'Elite' prizes and the ‘What a Mortal!’ prize.
The number of games required to complete Weekend Ranked is 18 and you are eligible for prizes based on your rank at the start of the weekend. At the end of the weekend, players get bonus prizes based on their level of growth over the course of those days, i.e, the higher the rank, the higher the reward.
Remember, if you play against the rules (play on two accounts to receive multiple sets of prizes) it will forfeit your prizes and possibly lead to an account suspension. After all, one account is more than enough! Also note, if your game disconnects (for any reason) and you fail to reconnect, it will be treated as a loss.
Daily Play and Earn
Daily Play & Earn is active 7 days a week and overlaps with Weekend Ranked. Simply play 10 ranked matches daily to generate fragments. Fragments are points indicating your daily performance and are used to calculate your rewards as such: (Your Daily Fragments / Daily Community Fragments) * Total Daily $GODS Rewards. Only wins can generate fragments and as a bonus, the first 3 wins of a day give double Fragments. The higher quality of cards in your deck and the higher your rank, the more your $GODS rewards!!
You can access your Daily Play & Earn dashboard in the Gods Unchained launcher either from the button on the main screen or from your profile menu. From there you can track your results as well as claim your $GODS. For more details regarding Daily Play & Earn, read this and this.
