Gumeta update: Sealed decks

Gumeta enhancements

Because last time I did quite a job adjusting code to display decks, today I thought, why not include sealed games as well? The idea came to me when I bought the shiny Battle Pass, which includes two 'free' tickets, so I 'have to' play two sealed runs. But I have no idea what is working right now in sealed.

So, I updated Gumeta! Now, you can click on any domain and see what people are playing, just like in any other mode. The aggregating algorithm is working better than expected, and the info is very clear. But the biggest advantage? You can check 7-win run decks! If you're like me and have no clue how to build a deck in sealed or what cards are good for a deck type, this is a game-changer.

Soon, we will have a new pool with cards from the upcoming set, so the stats will be a huge help—even for sealed veterans.

Battle Pass & Expansion Impact

I'm proud to announce that once again, we reached 3700+ daily active users, and today I expect even more! The data comes from the official Gods Unchained API, but some time ago, I built nice charts for the community for better visualization:

What surprised me the most is the number of games played. Last month, the correlation was clear: every active player had a max of 10 games daily, and that's it.

After the Battle Pass release, it's obvious that people are grinding quests for BP rewards and playing sealed (that's my plan too, but I have no idea how I'm going to find time for all of this xD).

Overall, it looks good! IMO, the GU team finally made a step in the right direction. New players might be very happy, and that's exactly what we need right now. Is the global hype incoming?

The downside for collectors and big spenders is that most cards will have very little value since many packs are included in the Battle Pass. Could this be a trap for the Gods Unchained economy?

Sealed Meta Overview

Let's go through the domains and archetypes.

#1 Light – Most Played

Light is, as always, the most played domain because it's very easy to build a deck around the God Power. A strong setup is to have access to War and Nature cards that provide blitz creatures, removals, and board buffs.

#2 Magic

Magic decks are quite similar: lots of small creatures to keep pressure on the board and some removals. It works very well with a cheap God Power, so every turn, you aim to maximize your mana usage.

#3 Deception

The idea is similar—clear the opponent’s board to prevent buffs, keep pressure, maintain card advantage using the God Power as much as possible, and have a backup plan for 7-8 mana turns.

#4 Nature

Like previous domains, only one God Power is used in 98% of games. This time, it's a bit weaker—1/2 confused creature for 2 mana isn't perfect, but it seems to work, especially with strong board buffs.

#5 War – A Surprise at the Bottom

This surprised me, but it seems that War's God Power is too situational compared to other domains.

#6 Death – No Surprise at the Bottom

Death has been the least played domain since the beginning of sealed games. It's just very hard to build an effective deck around any Death God Power.

7-0 run here, so it's possible to win as Death: )

General Tips for Sealed

  • Best decks have a similar mana curve:

    • Many strong cheap creatures
    • Removals that can clear big threats or provide card advantage
    • 3-4 big creatures (7-8 mana) for the late game
  • Best strategy: Use all mana every turn

    • Play a cheap card + God Power
    • Or throw something strong on curve
  • It's also good to have:

    • Strong removal in hand just in case
    • A powerful 7-mana bomb for the late game
  • Take a look at the Cards section on the main page. Some cards may look strong, but if their win rate and popularity are low: "It's a trap!"

I agree on this one, it is too situational. I wonder what will happen if Rapture can do damage without having to wait for a creature to be damaged first.

Super useful information. Cheers!
