Is it harder to survive at Mythic in Weekend Ranked with Deception after Play & Earn Update?

Hey guys!

First of all I have to say sorry because I don't had much time in the past because of my real life-job so I wasn't able to create a blogpost earlier.

Today I'll give you a different type of a blogpost because the "Play & Earn Update" was (in my opinion) a huge impact for the last two Weekend Ranked events.

You don't have to read the whole text until you'll get the answer for the question in the title. I'll give it to you now: YES, it is harder to survive at Mythic in Weekend Ranked.

For the last two weeks I didn't changed my deck. The deck I used reached 18/25 three weeks ago. (You can check my deck HERE)

In the last two weeks I only reached 13/25.

But what are the reasons for a reduced winrate?

This are my results against the gods I faced last weekend:

  • War 4/3 (28%)
  • Nature 4/2 (24%)
  • Death 3/1 (16%)
  • Light 1/2 (12%)
  • Deception 1/2 (12%)
  • Magic 0/2 (8%)

A good thing in general: it seems that every god is played right now.

Bad is that it's way harder to prepare for the Weekend Ranked when you don't know what god you'll face. For example you can include more "deadly"-effects to have more weapons against Light and Frontline but these effects are useless if you play against Deception and Hidden-only creatures.

The key is to find the perfect balance for your deck to reach rewarding ranks constantly.

Another reason for a increased difficulty are the better rewards at mythic. You all know that a lot players deranked during the week to have higher chances for a higher winrate during weekends.

17 Wins at "Twillight Shadow" gave you better rewards than 10 Wins at "Mythic". But now with the update there is no more reason to derank.

Before the upgrade you got your first expansion-pack with a minimum of 11 Wins. After the update you'll get a expansion-pack already after 5 Wins. You don't have to win 44% of your games to get instant sellable cards. After the update you need only a 20% winrate.

And to compare my own result:
For 13 Wins I'll get in a few days 2 Rare and 2 Epic Core Packs and 1 DO Rare and 2 DO Epic Packs. These are 7 packs for a hard weekend.

3 weeks ago 13 Wins would mean that I'll get 2 Rare and 1 Epic Core Pack and only 1 DO Rare pack. These were only 4 packs and only 1 pack with 5 instant sellable cards.

I can understand why half of the playerbase deranked during weekdays in the past...

  • 4-17 Wins & 20-21 Wins got a improvement in rewards.
  • 3 Wins, 19 Wins & 22-25 Wins stayed the same.
    And if 18 Wins are now better...this is difficult to say. Some of you would say that a Core Legendary Pack is better than 3 Core Epic Packs because you don't get a guaranteed Legendary Card anymore. But with the 70 new Core Cards coming soon the change will have more value to complete your collection faster without spending money.

I will contine playing and I think that I will still play Deception. At least Gods Unchained is still just a Card Game and you can be lucky and reach 18 Wins or you can be unlucky and reach only 13 wins.

I don't know if I will change my deck for next weekend. But I think sooner or later I have to improme the balancing of my deck.

Is it just me or the weekend rank after updating the reward system became even more barbaric and much tougher? :p

Nope, I have the same feeling :D

It makes sense since no one is de-ranking now, plus the matchmaking is fixed so you won't go against Diamond as much when you're Mythic
