Last time I wrote about Olympian War which actually got a buff, making them perhaps viable, but I saved the worst(?) for last in Structure Magic.
Granted I didn’t go the traditional Control route that most would’ve taken with Structures because I wanted to experiment with some Aggro hybrid just to be different. And it’s just fun bashing your opponent in with a wall of bricks haha. It was my worst performing deck but I had a blast with it.
If you throw enough Frontlines at Hidden Deception, they can’t touch you!
And nothing feels better than beating Aggro War with Aggro Walls. Wagon Power!!!
Deck Link here. There are a lot of defensive Structures but to play a bit Aggro you need ones that can also deal damage, so I put in one that can attack and/or has a damage ability like Pallas’ Wanderwagon and Fortified Acropolis. Of course there needs to be some defensive Structures to protect your damage dealers, and I added Aggravated Architect for more early game board control. It synergizes well with Automabunn as well. On top of that, I added some cheap damage spells, half of which can go face for the Aggro-ness (and to pump up your Monolith of Storms); they also help transform your Wanderwagon into 6 damage then back if needed to for survival. You’ll notice a Divine Coronet in the deck… what is it doing there? Well, in case we play against a Control deck, since this deck doesn’t ramp up that quickly, we need something to fall back on. Plus I’ve never played with one before and I had a chance to borrow it from my team Play2Win (https://play2wingu.com/) so why not?
I played 20 matches with this deck in Mythic, and I actually did okay the first day with a 6-4 record and really wanted to keep that going. Unfortunately that wasn’t meant to be as I went 2-8 the next day haha. If I drew my Frontlines and removal properly against Aggro War and Deception, I had a good chance; but if you don’t, it’s tough to come back. Against Control, you really have to use your Spire to foresee and draw/play Coronet, otherwise hope to get your damaging Structures out to deal some damage. I did win against a Control War once which I was super happy about.
For BoTW, I think this is how I would rank which God got the best cards (after the nerfs and buffs): Death > Light = War > Deception = Nature > Magic. Although I think Magic got the weakest cards I believe they’re at least interesting, and we’ll see if it pans out for them in the future. Automabunn is pretty flexible and can help sturdy up your other Structures, and Entrapment Apparatus is a pretty good stall. Arcane Fabrication and Giramonte seem like they could work in a combo deck like a Schoolteacher/Structure hybrid or maybe a Coronet deck, while Elder Strix is a bit slow because Structures are slow and doesn’t have that much impact being brought back, other than be another defensive wall.
I like "Automabunn", that "armor 1" is very useful.👍👍👍
Definitely looks fun. I'll need to think about picking up Acropolis. Did you consider the new Arcane Fabrication?
Yea I talked about it in the last section but it seems a bit slow and you have to really build around it. Giramonte didn't do much in this deck neither except maybe copy a couple of Automabunnies
