Gods Unchained is it missing it's window of opportunity? What features would you like to come online first?

Hello there Gods Unchained community. So on the back of a weekend ranked with a few issues I thought maybe this was a great time to bring up this subject. Gods Unchained has the look of an amazing game but lets be fair here there are constantly issues. Now I know all you diehard defenders are gonna be like well it is still in beta. The game has been in closed beta since 2018 and open beta since July 2019. These dates were taken from this article which you can find HERE!!!. Now lets be fair and just go back to the open beta date of July 2019. That means this game has been in beta for three years. Yet still is pretty buggy especially on weekend ranked events time. With so many other NFT TCG games coming into the blockchain gaming space my fear is if Gods Unchained doesn't step up their progress on this game it will miss a shot for rapid growth.

My reason of this fear is due to how gamers in the blockchain gaming space will pass over a game that is not feature rich unless it has massive profits. And while you can earn in Gods Unchained if you are coming new to the game you already missed the $IMX airdrop, and the first few weeks of the blessing of the $GODS event. They also missed the genesis card set and the trial of the gods. Not to say you can not play the game if you do not have those cards but flipping those cards or selling then because you had bought packs or earned packs from those sets I feel makes up a majority of the current old school players money earned. Now we do have the Divine Order set and the forge open so profits are being made there. But even with the forge it is players who have been playing a long time who have multiple copies of cards that are able to forge the most. I am in no way against this. They have put in the time, and dealt with bugs that would probably make us new players toes curl. I am only illustrating these points as if a new person is like well I can play with the starter decks and do not really have much money to put in. Or they can go to a game like splinterlands and spend $10 on a spell book and start earning crypto by the third or fourth day of playing. And all while not having to play 60 games like you need to for the blessing of the $GODS event. And splinterlands battles are far quicker then even the fastest GU battles. Again not saying one game is better then others just trying to throw out different view points here.

So lets talk about the compation out there for Gods Unchained. The fairest would be to talk about splinterlands. And the only reason for this is they have been out for about the same amount of time. With splinterlands coming out in 2018. This date was taken form this article that also talks about their funding. You can take a look at that article right HERE!!!. Now while they are fundementally both NFT TCGs. Splinterlands is more of an auto-battler while Gods Unchained is more akin to Magic The Gathering. You also have Skyweaver which is the newest out of these three. It's play to earn is weaker then the beforementioned two games. But there is talk of Skyweaver having their own token and more features being added. There are many other games coming but to save time I just mentioned Skyweaver and Splinterlands.

Just for another comparison of why I am worried about Gods Unchained and that they may be lagging behing is the amount of active users. Again we use Splinterlands since these two games are about the same age. Splinterlands currently set their weekly active players at 500k. Now the more realistic number might be 250k users but wow. That is just insane compared to GU. If you are curious where I got the splinterlands numbers from the article can be found HERE!!!. As compared this past week Gods Unchained only had 61,500 users. And this was during the blessing of the $GODS event. I got that information off of the GU discord. The exact post can be found HERE!!!!!!!. So as you can see there is a giant discrepancy here. Is it because GU in on ETH and to get your ETH onto IMX you still have to pay the extortionate gas fees? Not really sure of that answer.

And the final thing I wanted to tackle in this article is what features do you want to see in the game in the near future? For me hands down I want my weekend ranked progress to show right there on my UI where I que up for games. Also there has been talk of different formats so lets see them!!! And in my previous article which you can check out HERE!!!. I feel like the weekend ranked rewards could use a rework. And one I have not really talked about before how about a user interface where you can sign up and host tournaments right from the game. So if a streamer in the community is running a tournament it can be posted there. I think this would make it streamline for people to enter instead of having to follow 10 different discords to see what was being offered. Now lets here what you want to see in the comments below.

Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to check out my thoughts. I know this was a longer one. But I want to see GU succeed in the best way it can. Both as the game and on Hive. Shoutout to @flauwy for the awesome #OneUp divider and the creation of the #OnUp token and #Cartel token. I used Canva.com to make my thumbnail. And the Gods Unchained cluster of cards from NicePng.

If you do not have splinterlands account but I have peaked your intrest just from the play count you can Join HERE!!!

The @oneup-curator is interested in buying some Gods of Chain packs and get a player started to operate our account for a profit share, as well as weekly posts about the game, with news and our account progress. Would you be interested?

Hey, if you're looking for one or more players to farm up a GU account on your behalf while you retain the actual value of the packs you're providing, you could bump into some issues with the GU team. While they currently allow multiple accounts, you have to tag secondary accounts and/or notify the GU team while forfeiting most rewards.

What this means is any player that were to pilot your GU account would either be unable to earn their own rewards or deny your account its rewards. Since you want to retain ownership of that account, they'd be foolish to allow it to gain rewards they don't actually get to keep. Nobody wins in that situation, as there won't be any "profit" to share.

Also, the only way to obtain a payout would be to sell off cards periodically, something that doesn't make sense prior to the forthcoming changes to how the various currencies are earned. For example, the quality of the cards you use in your deck will likely to linked to daily GODS earnings, so you want to keep cards to forge them upwards into better earning qualities.

I strongly suggest reading through the community to find one or more posters with a writing style you like and approaching them with an offer to sponsor them with packs. If the goal is to obtain periodic articles for your audience, here's a compromise for "sharing" the profit of your investment:

  1. You agree to buy X packs up front and have their first article be about the packs they're opening from you and the planned content series you've agreed upon.
  2. Any posts they make as part of this arrangement list one or more of your accounts as beneficiaries of the payouts.
  3. You continue to sponsor the player based on the profitability of the content they're providing you with.

Everybody wins, you limit your investment into the player based on how successful they are, and you don't bump into any of the secondary account restrictions I mention above :)

Wow, thanks for the great reply! We actually found a player with @squirrelacus. Obviously we want to play by the rules. For the Cartel the content is actually more interesting than the profit with the game. So we would be happy to not hold any assets and just let our player write for us. I doubt that this would be against any rules. Plus we would provide a massive value for Gods Unchained because we are planning a high quality weekly series about the game and its news. Stay tuned for more. :)

No problem! Just want to make sure you get started on the right foot, since I'm all about getting quality content for GU out there :)

Good luck to both of you in your endeavors!

Yea that could be good. I am more of a mid tier player so not sure if you are looking for somebody higher end. I currently sit at migdnight shadow not sure if you are familiar with Gods Unchained ranks or not.

Not familiar at all. I assume it has to do with a mix of skill and assets you hold, similar to Splinterlands. I am not looking for a pro player, I am looking for a dedicated grinder and content creator, who keeps 1UP and its readers informed about the game news and our account progress.

Well I am definitely a grinder lol. And yes I do not hold many of the assests as the fees to get ETH onto L2 which is IMX are to much for me. So I only play with what I got and can earn. But I still do well.

Ok the Jesse Jane card is straight fire brother I love it you need to make a Splinterlands one now too haha I forget the tool that you can use to do it but I wanna make one as well If I find it I will send you a DM about it.

Keep on killing it buddy

!PIZZA

Yea for sure, if you find that tool I would so love to make a splinterlands card of her so I could use it on my posts. And I am growing due to the love and support from people like you and many others. I am just trying to do the best I can and improve a little at a time. Thanks for pushing me to create awesome things. 2022 should be a fire year.

While I do think GU has its fair share of issues (especially regarding new user onboarding and general UX), I find that they are in theory fixable with some dedicated effort. Core gameplay wise it's on par with many TCG/CCGs out there, so there's not that much to worry on that front. For many games, there's usually a breakthrough moment where all these gets fixed - even Overwatch looked janky in its early phases. Holding out for that moment in GU. Cheers!

Even the small fixes seem to take the GU team a while to get done. Like I said I love the game and the community on Hive and just the Gu community itself. So I want to see things run as smoother as possible just as much as the next guy.

I think there's a lot of challenges facing blockchain games like Gods Unchained. Mostly attracting new users that are not well versed in the cryptospace. Like everything, it will take some time to build up that user base. However, i'm pretty happy with the way the game is progressing.

I cover a lot of block chain games as a content creator and I have seen a lot of Play to Earn Games over promise and under deliver which is just a recipe for disaster. GU is taking it's sweet time to get features out but I think this way is better than putting out half baked products filled with bugs that only erodes the confidence of the community and economy of the game.

GU has a very bright future and we're all lucky to be able to hitch a ride in the front seat, enjoying the view while awaiting for the rest of the seats to get filled up.

cute dogo

Nice & sneaky Splinterlands advertisement in GU community, we all know that it's not just 10$ to start earning anymore.

Not really, like I said multiple times in the article. Both games have been out the same amount of time. And while they have different playstyles. They are both TCG games. So why did one have such explosive growth compared to the other.
