As you can see on a screenshot, I finally got to Ethereal Diamond completely F2P!
In this post I'm going to share the path I made from 1st week till today.

The 1st week.

My starting rank for my 1st weekly event was Astral Meteorite. Thus, meaning my max reward would be as follows: 1 Rare Core pack, 2 Epic Core packs, 2 Divine Order expansion Rare packs (DO packs). To achieve that I needed win at least 14 games out of 25 first games since weekly event started.

I managed to win 16 out of 25 - good enough for max rewards!
On the day rewards were recieved I opened my packs. Here're DO packs screenshots:

No shiny cards, no epics or legendaries (there's a guarantee chance to get rare or better from rare pack, to get epic card or better from epic pack and legendary card from legendary pack).
Total market value of these cards - 1.3$ (at the day I opened my packs).
My best deck was - Nature cuz I got few useful Core cards from Core packs that given just for playing the game (compleating tutorial, reaching new account level, weekly event).
There are nothing useful for my Nature deck in these DO packs, so I decided to sell all my DO cards and buy some Nature DO cards. I've bought 4 cards, ended up using only 2 of them cuz other 2 didn't fit my playstile and my deck type - Big Beasts Nature deck.

The only 2 DO cards in this deck are - Brazen Moose 5 mana creature with stats 6/6 Blessed and Confused.

I got lucky to get an epic Wildfire card from a Core pack, you can replace it with eny available card that fits your playstile and mana curve (eg, Firewine, Lightning Strike, Green giant, Overgrown Rhino,Manamagr, etc).

The 2nd week.

Nothing fancy this week.
Unfortunately I haven't save my 2 DO rare packs. The total market value of those 2 pack in total - about 2$ (at the day I opened those packs). Once again I sold all cards, also sold 2 DO cards that I bought in previous week for which I didnt really found any use for me.
Bought few DO cards, tested different combinations and got myself ready to 3rd week.

The 3rd week.

This is the final version of my strongest F2P Nature deck.

Not that big of a sample size but still got me 80% win rate at Ranks from Auric Gold to Ethereal Diamond.
First 5 games of the weekly event I played with a similar deck, the only key difference - spell for 4 mana that gives 3 armour to a random friendly creature - Aspect of the Pangolin
image.png
Really 2 reasons to exclude that powerful DO card:
1 - too much of spells in a creature deck in my opinion (I found myself with a spell flooded hand)
2 - there is a hard counter - 1 mana Deception spell that removes all armour and deals 2 damage on top of that, insane value card Piercing Bolt
image.png
So I ended up with the deck on screenshot above that has 6 DO cards - 2 Rares and 4 Commons.

As you can see total market value of my NFT cards (DO cards) is about 3.08$ at the day I written this post.

The Weekly event Rewards on 3rd week.

I started my 3rd week at Midnight Shadow, so max rewards I could get are:

  • 1 Rare Core pack
  • 2 Epic Core packs
  • 2 DO Epic packs.

I needed only 17 wins out of 25 first games, so the target win rate is 68%. Turns out pretty achievable even on a 3$ budget starting completely F2P!

I wonder how good your packs are? Feel free to share screenshots in comments below. If you interested to see my pack openings, please, just ask and I'll save and share all screenshots from now on!😄

Thank you very much for your time!
Hope you find this post useful and entertaining.
I'm TonyP2E, see you on the next post!

Sort:

You have some of the key Nature Big Beast deck cards. Pangolin and Moose are quite powerful. I run a similar deck to you actually.

Yeah! I like both of these cards.
Giant Pangolin replaces a 7 mana 7/7 Charging Orix alloing to play fast reactive creature 2 turns earlier.
Brazen Moose has just great stats for 5 mana 6/6 with blessing options that help to controll the Sanctuary (I find this really useful) and just it's stats alone are really hard to deal on 5th turn.
I find myself tossing some low cost cards in the early game to bait opponent's removals and as the game progresses drop that big creatures and feeling more mid-ranged playstile actually 😄

One suggestion I have is maybe switching out those minotaurs for some more 3*s. I imagine if you are lasting to mid game then you will either already be winning or the minotaur likely wouldn't be enough to save you.

I'd consider switching out to Marsh Walker asap. It is widely considered the best 1* right now when paired with flourish and shieldbearer. If you can flip some of your unused earned cards: Bronze Gate, Underbrush Board, Ornery goat, jaguar Staffs would be great buys.

Thanks! I am considering it as well. Marsh Walkers... unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to pull at even one, in future new players will have easier and cheaper acces to core cards because of forge reopening. But right now few options we have are:

  • lucky pulls from core packs
  • buying cheap cards from the market
After getting 2 epic DO packs for last weekend event (19-20-21th november) I probably gonna sell and buy few DO cards including Bronze Gate. It might turn out a better replacement for Minotaurs and I already can see it would fit a mana curve even better!

Don't forget to check the star store too. Sometimes you'll find valuable core cards there as well.

Yay. What an awesome article. Thank you for sharing your insight!!!
