Decision making is difficult but very important. When we have to choose it seems like we make our paths ourselves. I believe that ability to make decisions is one of the most crucial skills.
To decide is not an easy thing to do. Sometimes, it gets as if there are a lot of options that makes it hard for anyone to figure out which one is the best. However, tough as it may seem, the decision-making process pays off in subsequent times.
When we take responsibility for making choices, we basically run our own lives. We can choose what we want instead of going through life and let things happen on us. That’s why I think decision-making skills are priceless. It’s like putting your hands on the steering wheel and driving a car rather than being just a passenger.
Yet selecting is not only about our choice between various alternatives; it is also about what we want. Sometimes this is the most difficult part. We need to deeply consider what’s important for us and how we wish our lives to be.
Personally, I have observed that decision-making becomes easier with time. The more often we do it, the more skilled we become at doing it. It resembles the process of training a body muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it becomes.
Naturally, sometimes people make mistakes when choosing something or someone. That’s all right too. Nobody ever gets everything right each time. Nonetheless, even if we make wrong decision, there are lessons learnt from such experience as well. We can learn why that was a bad decision and then apply this knowledge in making better choices next time around.
When making choices, I often consider what is most important to me. As an instance, if I have been given the opportunity to choose between two jobs it’s always better for me to select a job which is related to my future objectives and beliefs.
Also, speaking with other persons helps a lot. Sometimes we need them to see things that we might be missing. They can provide alternative insights that can help us make better decisions.
Eventually, however, it all comes down to our own decision making. That is quite something! This is our life and we decide how it should be lived; this makes decision making valuable from my point of view because it gives us the opportunity to create our own fate.
In conclusion, decision-making is difficult but very critical. It’s our chance of taking charge of lives and creating our own destinies. So even though it’s hard, it’s worth it for me. And the more we do it, the better we get at it.
