Greetings to my esteemed friends on the Cent platform and the entire Hive blockchain. It's another Sunday morning and a time to share with you two major spiritual disciplines that aids Christian maturity. It's your friend @faquan saying hello from this part of the world.
To attain Christian maturity, a believer must engage in studying the scriptures and prayers. The scriptures on its own reveals the mind of God and sets the believer on the right path in relating with God and man.
What is the word of God?
The phrase, “the Word of God” or “the Word of the Lord” has a number of different meanings in Scripture. It can mean either something that God has decreed, something that God has said when addressing humans, words that God spoke through the prophets, Jesus Christ, or finally, God’s written Word.
God’s decrees are His divine pronouncements. His words cause things to happen. Specifically, the Bible gives a number of examples of this. In Genesis, we read that God commands light to appear. Genesis 1:1-3.
The word of God has the ability to bring to life what was initially dead, although this comes with believing through faith. It's important to note that one must first believe in God's word for it to come to pass in their lives.
The word of God convicts sinners and bring them to the right path. It's natural for man to sin and fall into sin, so the word of God is an instrument to draw man back to God. For the word of God is quicker, sharper than any two edged sword.
Prayer
Prayer is key in the Christian journey. This is because the devil always come in different ways to deviate man from God's will. No wonder Jesus Christ said, pray that ye fall not into temptation. This means that temptation will surely come.
Prayer is a spiritual discipline that makes you remain closer to God and knowing his will.
As we engage our daily lives, it's important that we pray and study the word of God to grow spiritually.
