Tarantulas are a type of spider, of which there are many species around the world, but we all associate them with the largest and most hunting spiders. Although they have a bad reputation, only a few species can be dangerous to humans, so you don't have to worry about that either. I do recommend using gloves in the garden, regardless of what animals are there. In fact, we are often bitten by very small animals that we don't know how to detect, and these are very dangerous because if we have an allergic reaction, it could cause us serious damage and we wouldn't be able to tell the doctor what animal caused it, making it impossible for him to give us the appropriate treatment.
Now I've thought about the worst and it seems that the garden is a dangerous place, but that's not the case, so gloves are just a precaution. Returning to the Tarantulas, these spiders, because of their hunting condition, are great consumers of insects and help us a lot with pest control, so if you see them, let them continue with their valuable work.
