Yes, taking responsibility is one of the yardsticks of measuring maturity. Like you have said, there are so many underage people who act more maturely than their ages, and there are older people who behave like children. When we claim to be mature, we should also show attitudes that correspond with maturity; and one of such is by accepting and taking responsibility.
