Do not mistake self love for selfishness. This is just the best way you can survive.
The only person that is guaranteed to stay with you from the beginning to the end of your life is you. People will leave you when you are not serving their purpose again, but you will never leave yourself till you die.
Just like the James Bond movie. In each season you will see different actors come and go, but James Bond still remain. That is how your life is. You are the James Bond of your life, you don't come and go, you remain in the movie. Your character still remains even when other characters are no longer in the movie.
This is to say that, if you don't love yourself, your relationship will not still work even if other people start loving you. It is possible to love yourself less, but there no limit to how much that you can love yourself.
Self love is not selfishness. The best thing you can do for yourself is to love yourself.
