During our one year compulsory service, after the normal camping exercises and everyone went to their different places of primary Assignment (PPA), something interesting happened at mine that got me thinking so deeply. And I will love you to read from me.
So, during one of the days in school, precisely on Friday the school principal called all the students and staffs both teaching and non-teaching for an emergency meeting, and to everyone that was quite impromptu. Although one of the corps member by name Blessing was absent from school this very day.
While in the meeting, all the students were asked to send in their personal reports complaining about anything or any teachers that they don't like about and couldn't talked, corps member not excluded.
At this point, I personally knew that there was going to be a bit of drama. So it happens out that a certain student by name Jackson stood up and complained about copper Blessing who was not present during the meeting day, the student complain was that copper Blessing was always being insultive to them, speaking on behalf of other students.
Suddenly the new got home from school to copper Blessing, and she was very shocked to her bones asking herself, but I wasn't even around during the impromptu meeting.
One of the teaching staff stood in defense, pointed out that something is wrong with the complain given by the student, it could never be copper Blessing she said the student was actually referring to the wrong person. I don't use such words and had even raised concerns in previous meetings about counter measures to stop the particular teacher who does that.
The student was asked what subject copper Blessing teaches and he answered that she's taking them on security subjects, meanwhile copper Blessing was their English language tutor. Clearly stated that he had mixed her up with another.
But this very write-up has gone beyond copper Blessing and Joseph the student. This is about me, you and everyone else out here.
Aside our immediate family, church members, neighbors, do we have people who can genuinely and truly vouch for what we can do or cannot do?
Are there clear lines we know you could never cross? Places we know you don't go? Words we know can't leave your lips no matter what?
Actions that would be inconsistent with your character?
It's high time we should strive hard to make our life principles so clear and well written enough for people to know. We should at least be known for something positive as we can't possibly be everything and everywhere.
There must be things that can defend you even in your absence.
Here is our stage.... but while dancing we should be watching our back with our deeds and words.
