Today, I will give you a thing that’s been bugging my mind about; the power in making baby steps. It seems as if we sometimes need to take big leaps in life. But this isn’t always true.
I used to be the kind of person who wanted to see immediate results every time. If I failed to see quick improvements, then I could find myself giving up easily. However, there was something very significant that I discovered: small steps do count.
It is like when one climbs a mountain. You never just jump to its top; you do it one step by one step until you are there. The summit comes into view before you know it and when you are standing there, looking below at a grand view.
That’s how I began living life. Rather than dwelling on the amount of work ahead of me, I choose to move in small pieces. For example, whether it’s working towards a big goal or simply trying to be a bit better every day, I find that making progress requires taking small steps.
One thing which has really helped me is breaking down my goals into smaller, more manageable tasks. If for instance I want to get fit instead of thinking about how I need to lose 20 pounds, I concentrate on walking everyday and eating one more serving of vegetables with each meal.
This way, these manageable assignments keep me motivated and allow me to build momentum. And soon enough, before even realizing it –you know what- i realize that i have made significant progress towards my goal
I sometimes find it difficult. And there are days when I think I am not moving forward, making the same mistakes over and over again. But on such a day, I would always remember that even baby steps can still be called as progress.
Even if all I did today was take one step toward my goal, it would still bring me closer than where I was yesterday. And that’s something to be proud of.
Another thing that has been brought to my attention is the virtue of patience. Many a time we have found ourselves in situations where things were not happening fast as we wished they could happen. But now I know that good things come with time.
As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and so are our dreams. I’ve learned to be patient with myself and trust the process. As long as I keep making these little steps forward, I know that eventually, I am going to reach where I want.
Therefore if you feel stuck or discouraged remember this; every small step counts. It does not matter whether you are working towards a big goal or just trying to make a positive change in your life; do not underestimate the might of small steps.
Just keep it moving forward even if it is just one step at a time. You will get there, I promise. And then you will look back and realize that each individual step was worth all of it.
