Still at the Durga Puja..

in Cent2 years ago

I have shared some blogs with you earlier about Durga Puja travel. In those blogs I have shared with you many photographs taken while visiting various Durgotsava pandals and descriptions of those pandals.

Today I will share with you some photographs taken while watching Durga Puja at a place about seven kilometers from our house. The distance from our house to New Barrackpore railway station will be about 7 km. Several puja pandals were held within half a kilometer area of New Barrackpore station this year by Durgotsava Committees of those places. I came to know about it by watching some YouTube videos. Since I visited different places in Kolkata on Panchami and on Saptami I visited different places in Barasat near our house, so on Ashtami I thought let's visit those puja pandals in New Barrackpore.

In an earlier blog I shared with you some photographs and description from another puja pandal in New Barrackpore. In that day's blog I told you that I visited two pandals on Ashtami night when I went to New Barrackpore. I went to see the "Shakti Sangh" pandal after seeing the "Vidroh Sangh" pooja pandal shared earlier in the day. The distance between the two pandals was not much...

Every year this club "Shakti Sangh" decorates their pandal beautifully and grabs people's attention. Other years I spend the whole time visiting the puja pandals in Calcutta so I don't visit these places every year but every time I have been here before I have been amazed to see such beautifully decorated pandals in such a small club. Every year they celebrate Puja by organizing different themes.

This year their theme was decorated with bamboo and various bamboo products. The bamboo items used in the village like baskets, coolos etc. were installed in different places of the pandal.

The pandal looked very beautiful even from a distance due to the colorful lights installed on the pandal. Also, various parts of the pandal were beautifully decorated with palm leaf fans used in rural Bengal.

In this year, the idol of their mother Durga was also very beautiful. Aarti was going on when I went to this pandal. So I stood on one side of the pandal and watched the aarti for about 10 minutes. This pandal was quite crowded at the time I visited. Overall this pandal was quite nice. The pandal also won a few awards this year for their theme.
