I have fought a good fight

in Cent4 months ago

Praise the lord, everyone!

I'm grateful for everything God has done in my life and that of my family, He is too faithful to fail his children. So, I'm here to share with you what it means to fight a good fight. As believers, we need to understand what the phrase "I have fought a good fight" means. And I picked this phrase from the book of 2 Timothy 4:7-8

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

These verses of the scripture are very powerful to believers who understand what this means. These were the words of Paul to Timothy, as he shared his experiences and challenges of his life and ministry.

Paul used "fight" metaphorically to refer to the challenges he faced during God's mission. He shares how he struggled with persecution, and how he disciplined himself to spread the gospel of Christ. Even Jesus Christ faced these challenges while he was on earth doing his father's business. This is Paul admonishing us that in the course of sharing the gospel, we would face opposition just like he faced; we should continue to forge, push forward, and not be wavering.

You see how Paul was grounded in his faith to the end without giving up or derailing from the path of righteousness. He fulfilled the purpose of God upon His life by keeping his faith. He didn't end the journey due to the things he faced to the point he was happy and fulfilled to say, I have finished my course, he has done what he could by preaching the righteousness of God to people.

In the next verse, he spoke with the assurance that there is a crown of righteousness, that is his reward that God will award him on that day, and he said not to him only but to others who kept the faith and fought a good fight.

This journey is not easy but with the help of the holy spirit which God sent to us in the Book of;

St. Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Ghost:
St. Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

He will be with us to the end of the world. This journey is not for the weak, and it will take a lot of sacrifices; at the time, we would have to lay aside our business, time, and other things to do this work of bringing people their darkness to light. It is a call and we were chosen to do that. Jesus Christ fulfilled His purpose outstandingly, Paul did the same, and many other bible characters put on this cross to the end.

We also work or serve in this footprint.

Thank you for reading.
