WOO - My Take on Trick Williams' NXT Championship Win

in Cent8 months ago

Greetings to everyone on Cent and Hive.

Guys, did you catch yesterday's NXT Pay Per View Event? Well we have a new NXT champion.

  • Trick Williams and Ilja Dragunov fought hard though it was suspenseful.

Soon after the game, many WWE Superstars and other combatants wished him well on social media. They were so proud of him; this was nice to see.

But then there’s something else I came across. Booker T, who is a former World Heavyweight Champion himself, thinks Trick Williams isn’t ready for WWE’s main roster just yet. He needs more time – in Booker’s opinion – to develop his skills first.

Now, Book T is someone I respect because he has been in the wrestling business for quite some time; therefore, he knows what he is saying about. However, my view differs from his.

To begin with, let’s talk about what Trick Williams’ win means. It was a huge happening too. He overcame Ilja Dragunov who is not a pushover at all. The match was hard but Trick emerged victorious showing that he can make for a champion.

And then there were all the other wrestlers that backed up Trick in doing so. Anytime your colleagues congratulate you like that, it feels different. That means that he has earned respect from those people whom they work with and this matters.

In the next paragraph I will talk about Booker T’s comments on Trick Williams. From his point of view, Trick still has some ways to go before joining the main roster.

I understand where Booker T is coming from. NXT is where big stars from the WWE go to. There are stiffer challenges and higher stakes here, however. However, the thing about it is that Trick Williams is only 29 years old. This is young in wrestling years.

Trick has a lot of time to improve. Let’s face it; he’s already pretty good though, right? He wouldn’t be the NXT Champion if he weren’t. Nonetheless, like anyone else out there, he can still get better.

Again, we should also consider that: NXT has served as a platform for many budding wrestlers who went on to become huge superstars on the mainstream WWE roster. Before ascending to their current status as main roster superstars, people like Seth Rollins, Finn Balor and Kevin Owens were all made in NXT.

What says Trick Williams cannot do this? In fact, he has already shown that he can hold his own against the best in NXT. Who knows if it’s time for him to see if he can do so on the main rooster?

This is not to suggest that Trick should climb up immediately. He should take his time and ensure he’s fit for it. However, I think he's closer than Booker T believes him.

In the final analysis, it doesn’t matter what I think or what Booker T thinks; it depends entirely on Trick Williams and the WWE management who will know when he’s ready enough to move up.

However, if you ask me, I’d say that Trick Williams has a bright future ahead of him whether it’s in NXT or on the main roster. And I can’t wait to see what comes next for him.
