If Fear Didn't Exist In Our World. Review

Fear is a very negative emotion, or at least that's what we've been taught our whole lives. But this video I watched on YouTube changed my perspective on fear and I'm going to be seeing it in a very different light for the rest of my life.

The YouTube Video

It's an animation video that told a story, well more like a series of scenarios of how life would be like and how people would be like if we didn't have the emotion of fear in us.

After watching the video to the end, I have come to accept that we actually need to have fear in us for life to be as dynamic and as interesting as it is. Yes, I'm actually saying this, we need fear guys.

The video started with a little boy in his bedroom with his dad about to leave the room. Before the Dad could leave, the boy asked for the father to open the closet, he just wanted to make sure his clothes were hang up properly. Now you know normally kids wouldn't want closests being opened at night because they're afraid something scary could come out of it. But remember it's a world without fear.

The dad finished up on that and just when he got to the door, the kid asked for the Dad to turn off the light because they want to save energy. How many kids would want to sleep alone in the dark? That was actually the least troubling of the scenarios.

In the next scenario, a pilot told the passengers onboard a plane that they're going through a very terrible storm, a storm that he has never seen before. The passengers heard it and continued what they were doing as if they've heard nothing. Imagine that.

If you were onboard a plane and a pilot said this as an announcement, you'd probably freak out so much the storm may not even be what kills you but the heart attack you'll get from the announcement, lol

One of the engines of the plane failed and actually caught fire. A little baby on his mother's laps pointed at the engine on fire and said "fire" with the little baby voice. The mother said "very good, fire".

Can you actually believe this? Their lives are on the line and nobody cared. That's the fear aspect of our lives and that's what prompts us to do something to protect ourselves or to survive a situation. Without the fear, more tragedy would have happened.

This was not part of the video but I'd like to chip it in. Some of the powerful countries on earth have nuclear weapons. They could fire the nuclear weapons to destroy their enemy countries. You wanna know why they haven't done that? The fear of its impact to the environment. That fear is what's keep world war 3 from happening.

In the next scenario of the video, a man was preparing for his first live conference which he didn't seem even one bit bothered about.

The level of fearlessness for his first live conference was insane. Get this, the conference had 4000 people in attendance and 17 million people watching on live stream. Imagine if you were to have your first ever live conference show before that number of people, how would you feel 1 minute to the time.

The man was not even preparing or going over his speech and he had to memorize 23 pages of the speech which he obviously didn't bother to do. Man, I need that level of confidence to be honest. And what made it worse was that the president of the country was at the front row seat.

For me it would be cool to feel this fearless before such an event but the benefit of the fear of not screwing up is what makes us prepare well enough to do well in such situations. Clearly the man is going to say junk.

One very interesting thing about fear is that if it didn't exist, horror movies would actually be very pointless and some what of a comedy show instead.

The point the video was trying to make in the end was that fear has a positive role it plays in our lives. It is a reason for which necessary things are done. You fear to be poor or broke so you work hard and that brings you money, which makes life comfortable and easy for you.

You fear to lose a loved one so you behave right in order to keep them. A student fears that if they cheat at the exam hall and get caught they'll be in a heap of trouble so they don't cheat, at least some of them. And those that genuinely study pass the exams and get good jobs which brings benefits to their lives.

Now imagine if armed robbers, scammers, rapists and fraudsters didn't have fear for the cops or security agents and weren't at all afraid of going to jail for life, it would be very chaotic to live on a planet in that kind of mess.

Fear in a way brings order and sanity to humanity and I've come to actually appreciate it.

Now remember, there's the fear that stops you from doing great things or taking profitable risks, that fear is a fear you should overcome, but the fear of consequences is a good one and has helped in maintaining balance to life.

What do you think about the video and what is your perspective on it?

Thanks for reading and see you in the next one.

Wow that a nice way to think of fear. Indeed fear comes with advantages and disadvantages, but when there is a balance, it turns out for our good.

you're so right... It's the balance we need to ensure we get
