At this point I see the future of OpenAI may not be too bright and it might just get acquired by another big company . Yes of course today, the company is assumed to be a frontrunner in AI building the very best and looking like it'll dominate the future of technology itself but this situation may change pretty soon. I'm not just going to make this claim without reasons.
According to some experts, the excitement for AI tools is going to fade ahead. You'll probably find it hard to believe because of how much hype AI has gotten but wasn't this the case for most technologies that are considered obsolete now?
Microsoft has already invested a lot into OpenAI and they're using the technology in their own products like Copilot AI which I like so much. I think for that reason alone, Microsoft may want to buy out OpenAI to keep the company running.
When this happens, Microsoft would gain a great deal of control and in that way they can stay competitive in the race for AI.
But like I made mention in my previous blog, OpenAI is also spending a fortune to try to compete with other AI companies. It recently needed $6.6 billion in funding just to keep the lights on and honestly that's a 6.6 billion dollar pressure for them to deliver on their promises of making AI great in the future.
The only way out for OpenAI is to be a for-profit company and like I also made mention of previously, they might just double the prices of their AI services in the future.
