Whenever a platforms starts gathering a lot of human data there's one ability it poses and that's a search feature. OpenAI has done a great job with its scraping Gpt bots and has scrapped so much of our data online.
Now the company plans on including a search feature called SearchGPT to their Chatgpt platform and they intend to do this before the end of 2024. The may impact will be felt by already existing search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing because people will not see the need to use them anymore, that is if SearchGPT is as good as the other serve engines.
The great advantage of using SearchGpT instead of ChatGPT to a user is that when you search for something, you're not getting links to different websites that possibly answers your question or gives you search results, rather it goes ahead and answers your question or gives you the most accurate result for your search query.
That means less time going through way too many websites.
This will not just affect Google and other search engine companies, it'll will affect websites that earn from people visiting.
I hope that SearchGPT will actually allow the website owners to earn when the results Gpt is bringing is from their page. If that doesn't happen, the website owners are doomed and blogging for money will be obsolete. Well not entirely obsolete because there are lots of websites that don't just answer questions but brings entertainment or informative feeds and news so they'll probably still exist. However, the impact will be indeed significant.
But whiles lower and revenue will be a major problem for content creators, SearchGPT will actually help creators get more traffic because it can help them adjust their writing to reach more people.
The AI tool will also be able to convert text into audio or video in real time and that'll make content pretty versatile. I think we're very close to an era where AI truly dominates everything and content creators are going to fill this change before 2024 ends.
But if you're a content creator, don't be scared at all because Chatgpt's SearchGPT is not going to replace Google anytime soon. It'll only remain a very strong competitor for a long time.
There will probably be new tutorials on how content creators should adjust their content in favor of SearchGPT's new SEO style.
What this will also do is massively destroy smaller e-commerce businesses. Companies will need to pay to be seen, and the kind of budget that big players like Amazon has will enable them to overwhelm small competitors who currently rely on natural SEO results as a key part of their strategy.
This will significantly push up prices for consumers, as companies either have to cover the increased costs or disappear to leave just one monopoly business in each field.
Yes bro that's the major problem here and it's sad that Open AI is only going to think about innovation and what will get more users to their side so I wonder how creators and e-commerce businesses will survive this.
Perhaps there could be a deal set to help them or maybe Open AI will have to pay everyone which is unlikely ... This is however an unfortunate thing that is bound to happen.
Thanks for sharing this
