Quit Complaining, Start Creating
In my recent post, I shared a personal experience of my growth as a Hive's Layer 2 curator. It was a growth against all odds. The growth happened when I had a thousand reasons to have complained. True that we all have moments where frustration gets the better of us. It could be at work, at home, or within our projects, the temptation to complain can be strong. However, there’s a simple yet powerful mantra that can transform how we approach challenges: "Quit complaining, start creating."
Attaining personal growth and productivity would come with a myriad of options and we would have to choose one of them. There would always be a reason to complain about the discomfort of our present status or the option of putting them behind us and pressing on for something better. You cannot complain and create simultaneously. This idea underscores a fundamental truth about the nature of our focus and energy.
Complaining and creating are inherently contradictory activities. Complaining often stems from a place of negativity, dissatisfaction, and a focus on problems. It drains our mental and emotional resources, leaving little room for constructive thought. When we complain, our attention is directed toward what’s wrong, what’s lacking, or what’s frustrating us. This negative focus can create a mental environment where creativity struggles to thrive.
On the other side of the coin, creation is a process that requires a positive and forward-thinking mindset. Creating something new involves envisioning possibilities, exploring solutions, and channeling energy into productive outcomes. It is challenging the status quo.
Complaining is Costly!
Complaining is always the natural response to discomfort and dissatisfaction. It is easy to fall into the trap of venting about what is wrong, especially when faced with obstacles. Know this! constant complaining comes at a high cost. It consumes valuable mental and emotional energy. This keeps us stuck in a cycle of negativity. This cycle hampers our mood and motivation as well as impedes our ability to think clearly and solve problems effectively.
...But Creating is...
Creating is not easy, however, it is an inherently positive and forward-looking activity. Taking the initiative to create means making a shift of our focus from what's wrong to what we can make right. Creation involves using our skills, imagination, and energy to bring something new into existence.
Creating allows us to channel our frustrations into productive efforts, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation. When we create, we take control of our circumstances rather than being passive victims of them.

How to make the Shift
When faced with situations that charge our complaining buds, identifying your triggers is the first step towards changing your reaction.
Be intentional at toning your mind to things that spur your creativity. Begin your day with a clear intention to focus on creating rather than complaining. This mindset sets the tone for proactive and productive actions.
Engage in Solution-Oriented Thinking. When faced with a problem, immediately start brainstorming potential solutions.
Surround Yourself with Inspiration. Spend time with people who inspire you, and engage in activities that spark your creativity. Positive influences can help maintain your focus on creation.
Know that every small win is important. Acknowledge and celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Recognizing your achievements boosts morale and reinforces the value of your creative efforts.
Document your journey from complaining to creating. You can keep a journal. Writing about your experiences can provide insights, track progress, and reinforce positive changes.
The Benefits of Creating
Embracing a creative mindset has far-reaching benefits. It enhances problem-solving skills, boosts self-esteem, and fosters a sense of accomplishment. By focusing on what you can create, you will improve your own life as well as positively impact those around you. Your proactive approach can inspire others to adopt a similar mindset, creating a ripple effect of positivity and productivity.
Put together, we have a choice to make - either to complain or to create a solution out of a seemingly ugly situation. The better option is to quit complaining and start creating. Redirect your energy from negativity to productivity, so you can unlock your potential to innovate, solve problems, and achieve your goals.

Very powerful write up sir, it is very true we can't complain and create solutions at the same time. But when we channel that same energy into thinking of a better solution and bring the creative idea to reality. Only then we can solve problems, and achieve our goals.
Hello there, what a beautiful article you have here, sometimes it is so easy to get trapped in complaining about the discomfort of our situation rather than focusing on finding a way forward.
Our supper power lies when our focus and energy are on finding a way forward
Thanks for this wonderful article.
It's of great use to my life.
Have a nice day 😊
Very directly to understand, complaining is not the option, has never been the way out rather having a quick amd quiet mind of thinking amd bringing it into productivity is the way. Thank you for the powerful post sir.
This is indeed a true fact, complaining has never helped or solved problem in any way, we have to intentionally develop a growth mindset and seek solutions to problems . Thank you for this post it's helpful I learnt a lot from it and I hope others could learn from this post too
