Building A Shortsword

in Toys on Hive7 days ago

It had been a long time since building any of Megabloks Halo sets I have, so yesterday after getting Kaleb to sleep I unpacked it all and got cracking.

This Shortsword is one I've wanted to do for a while now, and I finally got around to it.

Building the spine of it was fairly easy, and gave a good indication on its scale.

Then, more was added to it.

The instructions are always a bit difficult to follow, so this other half needed to be deconstructed twice before I got it right and had it sitting in position correctly.

Both pieces have to match up flawlessly and dude to the slightly confusing instructions I found it kind of difficult.

I got in the zone and before I knew it I was here and hadn't taken any progression photos.

I'd love to set the camera up with the overhead mount and do time lapses of these. But, in fairness, it would be mostly me in the process of tearing my hair out while combing through mixed bags of pieces.

Oh, yeah. I don't have these sets organised into bags, they're one big pile of bricks that have been semi organised by colour.

Here it is complete, and it looks sick.

It reminds me of a sparrow or something like that.

In fact, Sparrow could have been a good name for it, if they stuck to their own naming continuity.

Every UNSC vehicle is named after an animal, except this, the Broadsword, and the larger ships. Bit weird, but that's life, I suppose.

Here it is with the cockpit open.

It has these three legs that lift it a nice bit off the ground too.

When I saw only three I was worried thinking I was missing something, but it was all good in the end, as only three were intended.

Nice build. Having good instructions is important. I think Lego let you have them in an app now, but I've not tried that. I have a couple of models to build when I find time. I need to post about them.

That's a nice-looking spaceship ! It's got a very 1960's Scifi kind of vibe to it 😀
