For Valentine's Day this year, Aimee bought me this Lego set, a jar of coffee, and some chocolate, and like-wise I bought her some chocolate she likes - a big galaxy bar - and a set of Simpsons figures.
Recently she has gotten into collecting Simpsons stuff. She has never been a collector of anything really but after seeing The Simpsons Ultimate's figures a few years ago, she got the idea of collecting them, as well as other lines.
I was actually pretty happy to get this, it has been a while since having a Lego set that I don't have to thrall through a bin liner of mixed sets in order to complete it.
Valentines Day is a commercialised bullshit holiday, but we treat it more like a little Christmas, instead of buying the usual hearts, flowers, and other lovey-dovey crap, we get each other things we actually like.
It's only in the last few years we actually realised that we didn't need to buy big heart-holding teddies and roses. Treating the occasion more like a mini Christmas is way better.
Here is the mini fig that comes with the set.
The first thing the instructions said to do was build this little guy, and I don't know what exactly it is about this bounty hunter, they're just cool.
The first piece completed was the torso.
The build was handy enough.
Spread among 3 bags, I worked through each bag - almost - entirely, before moving on to the next. It was fairly easy to build, mainly due to the small amount of pieces per section.
The torso and jet pack were in the first bag, and the second and third were the legs and arms respectively.
It stands fairly tall, especially in comparison to the mini figure.
The coolest thing about the set has to be the gun.
A small nub can be loaded up inside it which raises that piece, and when it's pressed down it fires the nub out.
Obviously, I had to test it, but I was extra careful not to lose the piece. With Kaleb, and Jabba walking around, the last thing I'd want is for either of them to eat it.
The missile also fires.
Pretty cool little set.
Building it just gave me the urge to buy a larger set. I'd really like to build something larger for the shelf, but I'm on a buying ban at the moment and just can't bring myself to spend the kind of money the large sets tend to cost.
If I did have plenty of spare cash I'd get the Millennium Falcon set I saw not long ago, which is somewhere in the range of €700.
I'm not even a huge Lego fan, I just think it's a kickass set.
Nice one. I've been doing more Lego recently. There's so much choice these days and I go with whatever appeals to me. Some of the prices are crazy though. My son has the big Falcon, but I didn't buy it for him.
