I realize not many may celebrate the current holidays but there's probably something to celebrate with the year coming to an end all around and it's quite common to buy gifts and receive.
I personally received a new gaming headset as the one I had before (JBL Quantum something) was really, really terrible. Before that I had a razer nari ultimate which I really liked, the surround sound and haptic feature was really fun, especially for gaming and guess a friend of mine paid attention and got me the new upgraded version of that razer headset the v3 pro. Been having a lot of fun listening to music with it lately and getting back to some gameplay which I'll be posting about more often here in a bit.
I personally bought a headset for another person as well, kind of unrelated but she made it quite clear she needs a new one and it had to be in white to go with the rest of her setup. 🙄 So I went with the Steelseries arctis pro wireless gaming headset, that brand I've also had great experience with in the past so can definitely recommend it. Personally I wouldn't have minded that one but can't say no to razers sound quality. Whatever you do don't get JBL, I honestly don't even understand how they get anything sold and how there aren't a ton of bad reviews about it, maybe all of youtube is just paid shills, who knows.
Either way, question in the title, how were your gifts? If not then maybe just comment on what you would've liked to have received or given away. :D
There was something three of my friends and me planned days ago for a Secret Santa, and at the end of that night on the 24th, we saw what each other had prepared.
When it was time to show, the secret Santa I got was from an artist friend- I would have expected just a drawing from him but he went the extra mile-
A bunch of stickers of stuff I like or memed about before (IM A GNOME), including two stickers he drew of two of my original characters, and a papercraft of the Hornet from Daytona USA. If that isn't attention to detail, then I don't know what is.
My gift had to go to an old friend I knew since childhood and had reencountered at university years later, who loves Sonic, so I edited a music video for him with Sonic Speed Riders using cutscenes from Sonic games...and before showing him that, I pretended that his gift was a 20 second Dr. Eggman shitpost until he saw a file called nothing.mp4 on the folder where I had it and, of course, he wanted to check it. Definitely a priceless moment I could get from something I ended up blitzing in 3 nights as I was busy with something most of the days before it.
That aside, I was able to spend time with my mother who had been to Colombia since last year's end of December and have great dinner with her as she returned a few days before Christmas- I missed her, but I'm glad she was all okay all the time she was on that long vacation, and I'm glad that I can happily hug her again.
And the last thing that has showed up for now...is definitely a mystery. Yesterday, this little goober showed up in my door, no people or stray dogs to be seen nearby in front of my house.
My mom had thought on adopting a puppy until this one just...happened to appear outside - it seems that they dropped her here while she needed her mom so we'll have to see about feeding her, but at least so far it seems healthy.
(I hope this picture actually sent properly - don't know if it is my phone refusing to show the embed in the preview or if for whatever reason it didn't actually upload properly)
It might not sound like much stuff in "wrapped gifts" but honestly it was nice to share meaningful gifts to each other as well as see someone I hadn't seen in a full year (both my mother AND another high school friend that had also left for studies last year- few days before Christmas he summoned me along others to play beach tennis for the first time), and if anything not only my brother had gifted me a handful of things this entire year, but also I'm glad that we've still made it to see this day better than before in some ways despite all the ups and downs.
I feel like JBL is the big brand that all the kids want these days. At least as far as bluetooth speakers go. Maybe they think that carries over to the headsets too, but in reality, they just suck as you said. I've never used one myself. I know my niece just got a JBL bluetooth speaker for Christmas.
speakers are the reason I gave them a chance only to disappoint me heavily.
I like my Razer mouse, so if I ever need a headset, I will be sure to give them a look!
I should get paid for this. xD
My wife and I didn't really get each other presents this year, we mostly focused on my 3 year old. He loved all of his toys, but none as much as his Buzz Lightyear. I have never seen him so excited to get a toy!
Technically we got the Whoop fitness devices for each other as an early Christmas present which is cool. And I got myself the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k Pro. Always gadgets for me!
I received the most unusual gift from a special super-talented young friend that I've known since she was a baby - she brought a piece of a beach in Cape Town to me; a large bag of sea shells and sea sand that she painstakingly picked up on the beach. This was my favourite gift! And a pack of gift cards, all her own designs.
Edit - I tried sharing the image, but it's not uploading properly, seems to be an issue currently!
What did I give? Some gifts from the Netherlands, Delftware, Cheese that I 'smuggled' through customs, & T-shirts. Scented candles and bath goodies.
Merry Christmas Acid!
That steelseries in white looks so nice! Now I want one LOL but I’m not using it for gaming so 🥲
In our recent exchange gifts here with my friends, I gave away a cute rechargeable eye mask and got myself a small humidifier. In that exchange gifts, I noticed almost all of the gifts were for relaxation. Guess it comes with age 😂
We have an exchange gifts later at HivePH, not sure what I’ll be getting and what I’ll be giving, still in dilemma. I’m looking forward to it though! 😇
Happy holidays to you!
We did a secret Santa, and I got my father in law.
He only ever gets books, so I got him political books - which he really liked. However, he said thank you to my wife for the gift, not remembering I was the one who gave it to him.
What a waste.
I got a massage gun.
I already have a massage gun.
lol, she got all the credit, typical!
Nice now you can double penetrate!
:D :D
We don't exchange presents anymore now that we're adults. It's a bit sad, but that's life. Instead, we are the ones giving gifts. For instance, I gave my nephews a Gundam for their Christmas present.
I like your username for this post! :D
thank you! XD
Something similar like your as you received game play headset..!
But I received a pair of earpods from one of my czn when he came back from Qatar.I use those earpods for listening the music 🎵.
But I would like to say one thing about gifts:
It doesn't matter the worth of gift is 1000$ or 1$.
"Gifts are priceless"
Gifts can never be bought, sold,or forgotten.
Thank you 😊!
I have the forced and the voluntary gifts given.
For the forced since we have the exchange gift in HivePH I ordered a make-up kit from China, got stucked in customs and still waiting for the clearance hoping will be delivered before 1st of January. For the voluntary I gave a bottle of perfume to April ( wife) since her stock ran out already.
For the things that I received, I have mugs, a pail, a basket, and an earphone.
I got a Makita DF333DZ Cordless Battery drill driver from my dad and brother
And I got them a bottle of nice Wine and Champagne.
And of course, my kids got a ton of new toys...
I received some books from my hubby (I love them) and a lot of cakes from relatives and friends. As the same way I gave books to my hubby, cakes and little things to my relatives and friends, a box with good food to my daughter (and some money too, I know she appreciate :P ) and to my mom. ^_^
hehe books are great gifts! I ordered myself "The Road" recently. :D
I did receive a zealot Mp3 player from my younger sister and some other gifts for my birthday next month. I also gave out some clothes I do not want to use as I have gotten plans for newer clothes for my new work next year. Also, gave cash gifts to my siblings for the season.
It's our marriage anniversary on the 28th. Since we don't celebrate Christmas, we got each other gifts for our anniversary instead.
Did a bit of shopping, mostly online. She is currently at her parents' place, we are about 300 kilometers away from each other, and I guess we won't be together to celebrate the anniversary. Because I have work to take care of till the first week of January. And she just finished her MBAs, so she's just tired and wants to sleep all day.
Either she will come here, or I will visit her in January I guess. Right now it's just not possible because of a lot of things; especially the political unrest in the country.
ah sorry to hear that, hope you get to celebrate the anniversary soon!
Hey man! No need to be sorry. We are both doing alright, our families too.
We'll probably be able to celebrate the anniversary in January. Maybe I'll visit them or she'll come over to visit my family and me. Let's see.
To play I stay on my speakers but sometimes to not disturb those around me I switch to headphones. A good sound card + a very good 7.0 speaker also gives an exceptional result. Really before I only used headphones but since I tasted the crystal clear sound of the speakers I have difficulty going back. The only downside to the speakers is that you have to reconfigure the sound when switching from gaming to music to get the best result. After the helmet allows you to have other suptiles like the enemy who walks softly behind you to reduce you to ashes hahaha.
One of my daughters gave me a leather hat.
To my children and grandchildren, I gave 2 agendas, 3 pouches, 1 pair of wool socks, and 1 leather wallet.
I recently bought a JBL Bluetooth headset, and so far I am satisfied with it; however, I don't play fast games.
I'm going to be honest. This year I don't think I did well at the giving or receiving of gifts. It was kind of rough and this Christmas felt rushed.
There's always next year, I guess xD (with the way the world is going you never know)
True be that homie.
I think JBL is like the "cheap and ok" brand of headphones. Sennheiser and Bose should be better, but I don't know if they offer gaming headsets. As for the gift, I got some practical gifts this time around; a shirt and some household items. I guess when you're older that is an easier and safer gift to give others.
A new headset is really something! That crispy clear sound quality! 😃
I got a book that relates to the Game of Thrones world and then some fancy Jalapeno and Habenero sauces! Which I am hella excited about!
And some other stuff.
I’m not celebrate Christmas. And holiday just at home. Rainy day every day for almost two weeks. Better in the blanket 😅
At least, I got new work desk with granite materials. Pretty cool to work 😊
Anyway, happy holiday to you.
🥰 I had a very merry Christmas!
Two big chicken, rice, two new sets of clothes for my children.
I hosted a family of 4 and shared food with neighbors.
Books are always on my top chart as gifts. My friends know that and till now I received two of them with a nice notebook.
I think more will come...
Yes. It's the season of gift-giving and gift-receiving. I don't think it should be one sided. It's good you gave a gift to another, a friend, after you received one. I think that's one of the things that completes the joy this holiday season.
Happy holidays and a prosperous new year to you, @acidyo.
For my mother I bought chronicles of Narnia books. For myself- a few of Berserk manga Deluxe volumes.
100 HBD would be awesome. Or maybe level 3 MIMOSA NIGHTSHADE from splinterlands... But instead these days it got more expensive.
My favorite gifts were my NBA jerseys, Squatch soap collection, Yeezy shoes, an Allen Iverson collectible, and an authentic Nascar jacket.
That Allen Iverson gift is so cool! Yeezy too!
I received food, hygienic products, and office supplies. The low budget stuff people opt to buy for giving to groups of people but these were nice.
I didn't have a material want or wished for something since I most of what I needed or wanted were already with me. Kinda felt a little envy that people around me had wants and these fulfilled. Would probably try to want something for next year.
a pair of sock lol
gotta keep them feet warm!
can’t go wrong with socks 😂
I got money from a friend also, I gave out money to those who are in need
There is love in sharing and Christmas means love!
My sister bought me a wallet and didn't wait for the new year to give it to me. It has a great place to put bank cards and is very handy. I bought a smart watch for her son, my nephew. I haven't given it to him yet and he doesn't know about it, it will be a surprise on Sunday.
We don't do presents nowadays now. The other day we were in a whisky shop and hubby's debit card didn't have enough money so I paid for it. I told him he got his Christmas present 😀
if only we could pay with $hbd directly!
and get a discount if you delegate to the shop :D
I received a great 1000pieces puzzle of an Iceland landscape and a sweater. I gifted a book on personal growth, a decanter-cap for wine and a train ticket 😎
that'll keep u busy a while!
Im very thankful to the one who gave me a miniature grader of xcmg. ive been asking this years ago, i didnt expect that someone remembered it.
me and my friend coincidentally exchanged a bottle of whiskey so we drank it together instead haha what a night.
sounds fun :D
this Christmas i got a new running shoes. :)
Ended up getting my sister a phone and my mom a stove. Expensive holiday.
Nothing yet but incoming I guess
So that's a big nothing burger?
What's the anime?
On what?
this is really confusing
he hee yes it is. I am waiting for the gift 🙃
Hahahhaha maybe you need to give first so you can receive something? 😅
Aha that might be true 🤞🙏🎉
Multiple new outfits and shoes, for everyone in the family.
my friend gave me some eth ; ;. aside from that didnt really get any gifts since not really celebrated ;x
Dear Santa, pls bring me a nice tall stack of HBD (and Zing, too).
Thank You, that's all. 🎅😁🤙
you may be reading too much between the lines :p
😂
When I read the post, I thought - hell I didn't get anything and didn't give anything away because I wasn't celebrating Christmas Evening this year.
But...
So far I got only Champagner and some Dinner invitations.
I gave away a car modification, cosmetics, cloths, cigars, I gave 400 for a charity meal organized by local groups in Nuremberg. Handed out a bunch of mid sized ~50$ each gift packages to associates from early December on already. All in preparation of the upcoming holiday season. It really feels like nothing to me, maybe I'll focus on gifting after Christmas in the future.
money!
somehow I'm not surprised. :P
