Everyone likes to enjoy delicious food. However, since every country/region have their own recipes and cooking styles, I am pretty sure we all have a favorite local food from our home country as well as a favorite foreign food that is totally different to what we are used to.
In my case, my favorite local food would be Hallaca. It is the typical Christmas food in my home country so it is always associated with happy times and family sharing. Its ingredients could vary a little bit depending on the family but regardless of the cooking style it always tastes delicious. This is its Wikipedia page.
My favorite foreign food would be Paella. A typical Spanish food. The first one I tasted was in a Spanish club that I used to attend with my family. They have an excellent Spanish restaurant and I was hooked since then. It is hard to choose a favorite foreign food for me, I was trying to choose between Spanish cuisine and Italian but I think I prefer the Spanish one with Paella as my number 1 option. I like monkfish liver at food bars in Japan. It's not he most regular food so you can't find it everywhere but it goes real well with sake....had no idea what a monkfish looked like when I first had it so it wasn't hard to eat. After I learned what they looked like it was a little scarier.
My favorite foreign food....it's really hard but I like Ethiopian food, maybe because it's harder to find than Thai or Mediterranean.
